UPDATE 🤍🙏

We are officially 3 weeks post-operation, and we have so much to be grateful for!

Llew is doing incredibly well. We both received our latest test results on Thursday, and Llew’s creatinine has come down to 117 — such wonderful news! 🙏 Mine is also slowly but surely coming down.

We both still have some discomfort, but each day is a little better than the one before. Healing takes time, and we are so thankful for how far we have already come.

Tomorrow and again on Thursday, Llew will be seeing his doctors for his weekly check-ups. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. We truly believe that God has great things planned for his life, and we continue to give Him all the glory for how far He has carried us. 🙏❤️

We would also like to ask for your continued support. Llew is still not able to work at this stage, which means that for now, we are currently relying on my income alone.

Thank you to every single person who has prayed for us, supported us and walked this journey with us.

Three weeks down, and getting stronger every day. ❤️

ALL GLORY TO GOD! 🙏

UPDATE ❤️🙏🏼

Last night we celebrated everything and anything, but most of all, we celebrated simply being HOME together. 🏡❤️

Blake and Corlia brought a cake, along with their sense of humour… including candles that just would NOT blow out! 😂🎂 It feels so incredibly good to be back in our own environment again, together.

And just LOOK at how good Llew looks! 🥹❤️ A comparison from just 4 weeks ago to now… I am honestly in awe. I can’t say this enough:

ALL GLORY TO GOD!! 🙌🏼🙏🏼

He has carried us through every single step of this journey, and our prayers have been heard and answered.

Although the transplant is behind us, our journey isn’t quite over yet, and we would still really appreciate your support. ❤️ Llew won’t be able to return to work for the next 6 months, and he will need to find a new job when he is able to return to work. For now, we are relying solely on my income.

For the next 6 weeks, Llew also needs to be at the hospital twice a week for check-ups. With me returning to work soon, we may need to rely on local transport such as Bolt to get him to and from his appointments.

If you know of any vacancies, work opportunities, or have any ideas that could help us, please let me know. Every lead, share, prayer and bit of support means more than you know. 🙏🏼

We have come SO far, and we remain incredibly grateful.

Update from the hospital ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼

Llew was discharged around 7pm last night, and we are SO excited to finally have him home! 🥹❤️ After 29 days in hospital, there really is no place like home.

We are now just a few hours away from being 2 weeks post-surgery, and honestly, it all still feels so surreal. This time two weeks ago, you were all praying for us while we were in surgery… and today, we are both doing so, so well. 🙏🏼

God heard every single one of those prayers. We are beyond grateful for how far He has carried us and for the incredible recovery we’ve both had so far. All glory to Him! 🙌🏼

On Monday morning, we’ll both head back to hospital for our follow-up appointments. After that, Llew will continue seeing the doctors more regularly while they keep a close eye on his new kidney and recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every prayer, message, contribution, check-in and bit of love and support you’ve shown us throughout this journey. ❤️ Please don’t stop praying — there is still a road ahead.

Llew’s next big challenge is finding a new job — something that will keep him busy, motivated and give him the opportunity to get back on his feet again. If you know of anything, hear of an opportunity, or have any ideas, please reach out to us. We would appreciate it.

For now, we are just incredibly grateful to be HOME, together and recovering. 🙏🏼❤️

God has been so, so good to us.

Update from the hospital: ❤️‍🩹

Llew is doing SO well! His catheter and drain are both out now, and he says he feels like a free man. 😂🙌🏼 According to the doctors, he will be discharged tomorrow! 🙏🏼 All glory to God!!! What an incredible milestone.

As for me, I’m also getting stronger by the day. My walks are getting faster and my wounds are healing beautifully. I do get tired a little sooner than I’d like, but fortunately I’m able to listen to my body and rest when I need to.

Llew and I both have to be back at the hospital on Monday, but just for our check-ups.

We continue to pray for Llew’s recovery, that his body continues to accept and love his new kidney, and that his medication will be sorted out and balanced soon. 🙏🏼❤️

Although we have made it through the biggest part of this journey, we still need a little help from our community. ❤️

Llew is not yet able to work while he recovers, and once he is strong enough, he will start looking for a new job and hopefully begin this next chapter with a fresh start. 🙏🏼

We are also still carrying some of the financial weight from his dialysis. The company I work for very generously stepped in to help us cover Llew’s dialysis costs when we desperately needed it, with the agreement that I would repay 50% of that assistance. I still have an outstanding amount of R20 000 to pay back towards his dialysis.

So, if anyone is still able and willing to help us get through this final stretch, we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. ❤️

We have already been carried by the kindness, prayers and generosity of so many people, and we will never be able to adequately express how grateful we are.

God has carried us every step of the way. 🙌🏼🙏🏼❤️

Hospital visiting hours this afternoon: Llew was quite talkative today! Cough much better, blood pressure looking good. All signs very encouraging. He managed to climb the stairs from the 6th floor to the 9th floor under the watchful eye of his physiotherapist.🌟
Esthé attended Tylo's hockey match this morning and climbed the stairs from the 3rd floor to the 6th floor at visiting hours this afternoon. She walked 3500 steps today! 🌟(Taking it slowly though.)
We are grateful for the recovery of both Llew and Esthé thus far.🙏🩷🩵

(Still no touching each other allowed) 😅

Patient update 🤍

We have some really exciting news! 💃

Llew’s new kidney is doing an incredible job! 🥹🙏

🔥 His creatinine has dropped from over 1000 to just 145.
🩸 His haemoglobin is up to 8.5, so his body is carrying oxygen much better.
💧 His urea has come down from 20 to below 12, which means the kidney is clearing waste exactly as it should.

The doctors also picked up a little bit of fluid around his lungs, but they’re not worried at all. They expect it to disappear on its own over time.

We honestly stand in awe. This kidney is working beautifully, and these results are nothing short of a miracle. All glory to God! 🙏❤️

Esthé is also doing really well. A few of her blood counts are a little up, but nothing that concerns the doctors. She’s recovering well and getting stronger every day. 🌸

And the best news of all… our first patient has officially been discharged! 🤩💃

When I picked Esthé up, Llew was looking really good too. His blood pressure is finally starting to settle, which is such an answer to prayer. He still has a long road of rest ahead of him—his body has been through so much over the last two years—but he’s heading in the right direction.

We are just so incredibly thankful. ❤️‍🩹

Please continue praying for their speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹 🙌🏼🙏🏼

Thank You, Jesus. 🤍

Thank You for this incredible opportunity, for carrying us through every moment, and for never leaving our side. If I say God is good, please don’t take that lightly… good is definitely an understatement. His faithfulness has been evident every step of this journey.

We’ve had the most “romantic” hospital dates these past few days. 😂❤️ But the cutest thing ever was that, after our surgeries, Llew wanted to video call me just to make sure I was doing okay. 🥹 Then, just before he had to go back to theatre because one of his arteries decided it wanted a little more attention than the others 😅, we managed one more quick check-in.

Needless to say, we are both doing incredibly well! 🙌

Llew’s counts are coming down like he’s about to run a marathon… which, if you know Llew, is probably the funniest sentence you’ll read all day. 🤭😂 Since Friday night, he’s passed over 10 litres of urine! Never thought we’d be celebrating wee quite this much, but here we are! 💦🙌 Praise the Lord!

I’m doing great too—moving around as much as possible while also making sure I get plenty of rest.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every prayer, message, and word of encouragement. We have truly felt every single one.

Please continue to keep Llew and me in your prayers. An extra speedy, smooth recovery would be such a blessing, and we can’t wait to share more good news with you soon. 🥰❤️‍🩹🙏
