Dr Claire Cullen is an ophthalmologist specialising in paediatric eye conditions and adult strabismus. You'll find her either at Netcare Linkwood Hospital or at Pretoria Eye Institute. Dr Claire Cullen qualified in 2010 as a specialist and went on to do a further two years of training in advanced microsurgical techniques including non-penetrating glaucoma surgery and paediatric cataracts, while wo

rking as an honorary consultant. Dr Cullen has a passion for both children and strabismus and was awarded an international fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus after a year of highly specialised training at the IWK Children’s Hospital in Canada. She is a member of both the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the South African Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and strabismus , where she serves on the executive committee. She is enthusiastic about giving back to the community as well as teaching, and has been involved in both local and international outreaches throughout her career. Dr Cullen also runs a paediatric eye clinic every Wednesday at the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital. She is registered with The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and strives to provide the best care possible for her patients.

The goal isn’t to patch forever. It’s to give the weaker eye the best chance to develop. 👀💛

This little lady was off to theatre to have her eyes straightened — travelling in style😎.
Sometimes the smallest things can make a very big day feel a little less scary. 💛
And apparently at KiDS EYES, walking to theatre is becoming very last season. 😂 SurgeryDay BraveKids

It's easy to focus on the eye chart.

But some of the biggest signs of progress happen long before your next appointment.

Maybe your child cried less today.

Maybe they kept the patch on for a little longer.

Maybe there was less negotiating.
