𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 — 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝. Her starting point was medicine. MB BCh, then an MBA, then years of clinical practice. Medicine gave her the foundation — the anatomy, the physiology, the rigour. But it kept returning her to the same question: why do intelligent, self-aware people remain constrained

by patterns they can clearly see? The answer, she came to understand, lives earlier than memory. Most of the beliefs that shape how a person experiences reality are formed before the age of six. They are not chosen. They are not conscious. They become the lens through which everything — relationships, safety, the body, possibility — is filtered. The person doesn't see the lens. They think they're seeing life. The lens lives in the subconscious. And because the subconscious speaks through the body — through the nervous system, through bracing and reactivity and the places that won't release — understanding it requires working with both. This is the work Dr Safeera K does at The Reset Room in Johannesburg.

I'm someone who can find seventeen layers of meaning in why I chose the blue mug instead of the white one.

But lately I've been entertaining the hilariously liberating possibility that not everything means something.

Maybe sometimes you're tired because you're tired.
Maybe you didn't reply because you forgot.
Maybe someone was quiet because they were quiet.
Maybe the blue mug was closer.

There is depth everywhere.

But I wonder if part of wisdom is knowing when not to go digging for it.

Tree falls. Sound happens. Tree gets on with being a fu***ng tree.

I've been thinking about how much of our lives we spend wondering whether what we do has been witnessed.

Did it land?
Did they understand?
Did anyone notice?

Meanwhile, nature just... does nature.

The flower doesn't need applause to bloom. The ocean isn't checking whether anyone found that wave impressive.

Maybe there's something incredibly freeing about creating, expressing, living — and letting the witnessing be someone else's business.

I read these for a living.

A rhythm tells you what a system has practised — what it repeats under load, without being asked. Fast, tight, efficient. Never off duty.

And here is the part that surprises people: the information isn’t in the beats. It’s in the space between them. A system with no space is a system running on reserve.

People are not so different.

Safety creates capacity.

The women I meet.

This month your feed will be full of quotes about women. So instead, here is what I actually see — from a chair in a quiet room, several times a day.

She apologises for the traffic. She offers her appointment to her sister. She calls her own achievements luck, twice, in one sentence. She can tell you every blood type in her house and not her own.

She is, without exception, the most capable person in her home. And she is always surprised to hear it said out loud.

So: consider it said out loud.

And the ones I love most? The women who come back a month later and say no to something. Who rest without explaining why. Who stop calling exhaustion ambition.

That is what I’m celebrating this month. Not how much you carry — what becomes possible when you feel safe enough to put some of it down.

Safety creates capacity.

Happy Women’s Month. Tag the woman you would say this to.

The nervous system spends considerable energy managing other people's versions of you.

No two people have ever seen you the same way.
They can't — everyone is looking through the architecture of their own experience.

The one your mother describes to her friends.
The one your best friend defends before you've even finished the story.
The one your neighbour constructed from your car and your bins.

None of them require your energy.

I've encountered the observer gaze in places I didn't expect. The lesson arrived the same way each time.

Watch the projections arrive. Notice the pull to respond to each one. And then — stay

Stay as the one who sees. Not the one who edits herself to fit each draft.

Some mine. Some not. All of them stopped me.

I've been collecting these for years — across sessions, across books, across the quiet between appointments.

Which one landed? Tell me below. I read every reply.

Some things don't ask permission. They just land.

That exhale you just felt? That wasn't imagination.
Your vagal tone shifted. Your nervous system received a signal it recognised as safe — and something let go.

This is what we work towards in every session at The Reset Room.
Not forcing the body to calm down.
Giving it enough safety to settle on its own.

From the treatment table — Ep. 02

Someone comes in for sciatica.
What the body has been holding in place is rarely the thing that hurts.
