Japanese scientists have been studying regenerative approaches aimed at stimulating bone formation and repairing tissue affected by osteoporosis. Research includes therapies targeting bone-producing cells and stem-cell pathways, while existing bone-building medicines can already increase bone density in certain patients. However, a new Japanese pill proven to reverse osteoporosis without surgery has not yet been established in major clinical research.

Brayden Auten, an 8-year-old boy from Wisconsin, became critically ill in April when what started as a simple stomach ache rapidly escalated into liver failure. Despite extensive testing and his familyโ€™s willingness to help, no suitable donor match was found, and his condition continued to worsen as his liver stopped functioning entirely. Doctors were left urgently searching for a life-saving transplant.

Amid the uncertainty, a transplant ICU nurse named Cami Loritz was deeply moved by Braydenโ€™s situation and made the decision to step forward as a living donor. On May 14, she underwent surgery to donate a portion of her liver, and Brayden received the transplant the very same day.

The procedure was successful, and months later the two were reunited at the hospital. Now recovering and doing much better, Brayden wrapped Loritz in a hug and sees her as a โ€œbig sister.โ€ Since then, Loritz has used her experience to encourage others to consider living organ donation and the life-saving impact it can have.
