When it comes to children, kidney health deserves a special kind of expertise.

Kidney health starts early. Children are not simply “small adults”; their growing bodies have unique healthcare needs, and kidney conditions may require specialised assessment, management and ongoing care.

We shine a spotlight on Dr Rashinta Moodley, Specialist Paediatric Nephrologist and Paediatrician at Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital.

With expertise in both paediatrics and nephrology, Dr Moodley supports children and their families through their kidney health journey, providing specialised care with a child-centred approach.

Because every little kidney matters.
And every child deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive and reach their full potential.

Let’s make kidney health part of the conversation from the very beginning.

Little kidneys. Big care. Big futures.

MEET OUR PHARMACY MANAGER

Behind every prescription is a little more than what meets the eye. Like a carefully prepared prescription, great patient care requires the right ingredients: knowledge, teamwork, precision and compassion.

This Pharmacy Month, we’re shining the spotlight on Andrea Muller, our Pharmacy Manager, whose leadership helps bring these important ingredients together every day.

From medication management and clinical support to working closely with doctors, nurses and our multidisciplinary teams, Andrea and her pharmacy team help ensure that every part of a patient’s medication journey is handled with care, accuracy and safety.

Think of our pharmacy team as an important part of the healthcare formula, making sure every dose, detail and decision adds up to better care.

Because pharmacy is more than medicine.
It’s about getting the right care to the right patient, at the right time, one dose at a time.

This Pharmacy Month, we celebrate Andrea and the dedicated team behind the medicines, helping make every patient’s healthcare journey a little safer and a lot more caring.

A healthy kidney is a quiet powerhouse , filtering, balancing and keeping the body in harmony.

Our Renal Unit has its own powerhouse: Connie Bauer, our Unit Manager.

Much like the kidneys work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain balance, Connie brings calm, consistency and care to the heart of our renal team.

She is the filter when things get complicated, helping her team focus on what truly matters.

She is the balance that keeps the unit moving, bringing together patients, families and healthcare professionals with empathy and purpose.

And she is the steady flow that keeps care moving forward, supporting her team, advocating for patients and creating an environment where people feel seen, heard and cared for.

Because renal care isn't simply about numbers, treatments and machines.

It’s about people, patience, resilience and hope.

This Kidney Awareness Week, we celebrate Connie and the dedicated team she leads, filtering out the challenges, balancing the demands and keeping compassion at the centre of care.
Leading with care. Balancing with purpose. Making life better.

When a Stroke Isn’t a Stroke: An Evening of Learning

A room filled with curious minds, meaningful conversations and a shared commitment to better patient care.

Our recent CPD evening welcomed GPs and Specialists for an insightful session led by Dr Celestina Naidu, Specialist Neurologist, who unpacked the important topic of Stroke Mimics.

From recognising subtle clinical clues to understanding conditions that can present like a stroke, the evening highlighted one powerful message: when it comes to neurological symptoms, every second and every detail matters.

Thank you to Dr Naidu and all our attending GPs and Specialists for making the evening a valuable space for learning, connection and collaboration.

Learn. Recognise. Respond. Make a difference.

When Mrs Hlongwa arrived at Life Hilton Private Hospital’s acute rehabilitation unit following a serious health event, walking independently seemed out of reach. Nearly three months later, she walked out of the unit with renewed confidence and independence.

Her recovery journey reflects the strength and determination of patients and the role that acute rehabilitation can play in helping people to regain function, mobility and quality of life after injury or illness.

Colder weather can be tough on little lungs. During winter, children are often more vulnerable to respiratory infections such as colds, flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). With more time spent indoors and their developing immune systems, these illnesses can spread more easily. The good news is that small, simple steps can make a big difference in protecting your child’s health this winter.

Swipe for four simple ways to support your child's respiratory health this winter and read more about navigating winter illness here: https://www.lifehealthcare.co.za/news-and-info-hub/latest-news/protecting-young-lungs-this-winter/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=childrensrespiratoryhealth_july26
