Big feelings can feel overwhelming. The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique helps children pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment. 💛

1 in 4. 💜

On 27 July 2019, I became one of the 1 in 4.

I lost the tiny baby I was carrying.

For three short months, you were ours. We called you "Bean."

The hardest part? Almost no one knew you existed.

We're often told not to share our pregnancy before 12 weeks because miscarriage is "so common." While that advice is usually meant to protect us, it often means that when a miscarriage happens, we grieve in silence. We mourn a baby that so few people even knew existed. The excitement is kept quiet, and sometimes the heartbreak is too.

Bean, you were loved from the very beginning. You changed me forever, even though I never got to introduce you to the world.

But this is not the end of my story.

On 5 June 2020, I was blessed with my beautiful rainbow baby, Joah. 🌈

He doesn't replace the baby we lost, because no child ever could, but he is a daily reminder that hope can grow again after unimaginable heartbreak. My heart will always carry both loss and love. I will always wonder who Bean would have become, while being endlessly grateful for the joy Joah brings into my life.

Today, I'm sharing my story because miscarriage should never be something we have to suffer through in silence. Every baby, no matter how small or how briefly they were here, matters. Every parent's grief is valid.

If you've experienced pregnancy loss and feel comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear your story. Together, we can help break the silence, honour our babies, and remind one another that we are never alone.

💜 If sharing your story feels too difficult, simply leave a 💜, a 🌈, or your baby's name in the comments. Let's remember them together.

For Bean. Always. 🤍

*Cartoon image altered to protect her identity ❤️

Today I had the privilege of treating one incredibly brave young lady to brunch as we prepared for what we hope will finally be her day in court next Wednesday.

Last time, after months of emotional preparation, the case was postponed when the accused failed to appear. The heartbreak, disappointment and anxiety were overwhelming. We are praying that this time justice can begin to move forward.

I am so incredibly proud of her. The courage it takes to stand up and tell your story after everything she has endured is beyond words. She truly inspires me.

Over the next few days I'm putting together a comfort care package for her to take with her to court, a little reminder that she is not alone. So far I'm including a teddy bear, calming essential oils and a few other comforting items to help ease the anxiety on the day.

If you have any ideas of small items that might bring comfort, or if you would like to contribute something to her comfort care package, please send me a message. Every small act of kindness reminds her that she is supported, believed and cared for.

Please keep this courageous young lady in your thoughts and prayers as she prepares for next Wednesday. 🤍

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) affects how the brain receives and responds to sensory information. For some children, everyday sounds, textures, lights, smells, or movement can feel overwhelming.

What may look like "difficult behaviour" is often a child trying their best to cope with a world that feels too loud, too bright, or too intense.

With understanding, patience, and the right support, children with SPD can thrive. 💙

Bullying can have a lasting impact on a child's emotional well-being, confidence, and ability to learn. Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported at school.

Let's work together to create environments where kindness, empathy, and respect are the norm. Speak up, support others, and remember: bullying is never okay.

💙 Be Kind.
💙 Be Brave.
💙 Be a Friend.

Joah and I tried out the Magic Water Buddies kit yesterday, and what a hit it was!

From mixing the magic powder to watching the colourful buddies come to life in the water, Joah was completely fascinated. It was such a fun hands-on activity that sparked creativity, curiosity, and lots of excitement.

There's nothing quite like seeing the joy on your child's face when learning and play come together. 🥰

A simple activity, lots of smiles, and special memories made together.

Yesterday, Joah and I had so much fun making an Emotions Fortune Teller together!

This simple activity is a wonderful way to help children learn about different feelings, talk about their emotions, and practise healthy coping skills through play.

As you fold, colour, and play, you can chat about what it feels like to be happy, sad, angry, worried, and excited and what we can do when big feelings show up.

Sometimes the best conversations happen when little hands are busy creating.

Why not make one with your child this weekend? It's an easy, fun, and meaningful way to support emotional development while spending quality time together.

One of the questions I’ve been asking myself lately as a parent is this…

My almost 5-year-old does NOT enjoy puzzles. He loses interest quickly and often doesn’t finish them in class. It’s something we’ve been told we should work on more at home.

But then I watch him build the most incredible things with Lego. Things I honestly would never think of myself. Towers, vehicles, little worlds, all from his imagination.

And it made me wonder 🤔
Why do we sometimes focus so much on the skills children struggle with, and not enough on the strengths they naturally show us?

Puzzles are important for things like concentration, visual matching and persistence. But Lego builds creativity, problem-solving, planning, spatial awareness and independent thinking too.

Maybe some children are simply “builder-type” learners rather than “puzzle-type” learners.

I think as parents we sometimes worry when our children don’t fit neatly into what is expected in a classroom setting. But children can be incredibly intelligent in different ways.

So now I’m curious 🧐

Does your child dislike puzzles but LOVE building, creating or imagining?

Or is there something your child struggles with in school, but shines at somewhere else?

I’d really love to hear other parents’ experiences ❤️

Children learn what love looks like at home.
Let’s teach them that love is safe, peaceful, respectful, and kind.

Break the cycle. Choose healing. Choose better for them. 💛
