Grace

This was the very last painting in my collection, and I almost gave up on it. But instead of putting it aside, I decided to be patient and give it a little grace. It reminded me how much we all need grace, not only for ourselves but also for others. God extends His grace to us so freely, even when we don’t deserve it. What a beautiful reminder to offer that same grace to those around us.

Have you ever missed a place you’ve never been?

Maybe you’ve felt connected to somewhere because of the stories you grew up with…
because someone you love came from there…
or because somehow, it feels like part of your story too.

When I painted these yellow tulips, I wasn’t thinking about any of that.
But afterwards, every time I looked at them, they made me think of the Netherlands.
My grandparents left the Netherlands for South Africa in the late 1940s.
My grandmother left behind her home… and her mother.
She never saw her again.

For as long as I can remember, my own mother has longed to visit the Netherlands.
It’s where her family came from.
And for years, I’ve dreamed of going there with her.

Maybe that’s what nostalgia really is.
Not only remembering where you’ve been…
but sometimes longing for the places, people and stories that somehow became part of you.

I called this little painting Nostalgia.

This is your sign. Do that thing! I’m 43, South African, and only started painting later in life. I still have plenty of moments where I stare at a painting and wonder what on earth I’m doing—but I’m learning as I go and having a lot of fun along the way.
As I’ve become more patient with the process, I’ve discovered something about myself too. God is serious about using the talents He gives us to glorify Him, and painting has helped me see that in a new way.
So, here I am: still experimenting and still making mistakes.

I wasn’t expecting THIS! 20 little paintings.
9 sold in just a few hours!
I painted 20 little flowers, not knowing where this journey would lead. Seeing 11 of them find homes so quickly means more than I can say.
All glory to Jesus 🙌He is my strength, my hope and inspiration
