Did you know that Malaria is caused by a tiny germ that gets into our blood when an infected mosquito bites you and injects the germ directly into your bloodstream?
Knowing that mosquitoes carry this germ, here are some of the most effective ways to stop them from reaching our families
-Sleep Under Treated Mosquito Nets: Everyone must sleep under a treated net every single night, all year round. Make sure children and pregnant mothers are tucked in first.
-Support Indoor Spraying: When health workers come to spray your home, welcome them. The spray kills mosquitoes that rest on your walls before they can bite your family.
-Get Rid of Stagnant Water: Mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water. Walk around your yard and clear away empty tins, plastic bottles, or old pots, and clear away tall grass. If there is no standing water, mosquitoes cannot breed near your home.
Be reminded that an ordinary case of malaria may present with fever, headaches, shivering, and body aches. This is the time to go to the clinic immediately for a quick finger-prick test and get treatment before things get worse.
