Infection prevention refers to measures taken to reduce the spread of infections and protect patients, healthcare workers, and the community.
Why Is Infection Prevention Important?

Key Infection Prevention Measures
1. Hand Hygiene
Wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand rub.
Perform hand hygiene before and after patient contact.
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Use gloves, masks, gowns, and eye protection when indicated.
Ensure correct use and disposal.
3. Environmental Cleaning
Regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and equipment.
4. Safe Waste and Sharps Hygienic
Dispose of medical waste correctly.
Never recap used needles.
5. Respiratory Hygiene
Cover coughs and sneezes.
Wear masks when appropriate.
