Cataract Surgical Outreach – Kafue District

This week, from Monday to Friday, UTH-Eye Hospital successfully conducted a Cataract Surgical Outreach across various rural communities in Kafue District, proudly sponsored by Orbis Zambia.

Through this outreach, our dedicated team reached communities with limited access to specialized eye health services, bringing hope and quality eye care closer to the people. During the screenings, patients were examined, those diagnosed with cataracts were successfully booked for surgery, and many underwent life-changing procedures with positive outcomes.

We remain committed to restoring sight, improving lives, and ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to eye health care services in Zambia.

A heartfelt thank you to our medical team, partners, community leaders, and everyone who made this outreach a success. Together, we continue to make vision possible. 👏🏽✨

Today, the Lusaka Provincial Health Office conducted a Performance Assessment visit at Our Institution, University Teaching Hospitals -Eye Hospital.

The assessment provided an important opportunity to review our service delivery, operational performance, and overall progress in providing quality eye health care services to the nation. The engagement was both insightful and productive, allowing for meaningful discussions on achievements, challenges, and areas of continuous improvement.

We are grateful to the officers from the Lusaka Provincial Health Office for their guidance, professionalism, and commitment to strengthening healthcare systems. Such collaborative assessments are vital in enhancing accountability, improving patient care, and ensuring excellence in service delivery.

As a hospital, we remain committed to delivering quality, accessible, and patient-centered eye health care services to the people of Zambia.

UTH-Eye Hospital Cataract Outreach – Kanyama & Chilenje (Sponsored by ORBIS)

The University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) Eye Hospital, with support from ORBIS, is currently conducting a Cataract Outreach Program in Kanyama and Chilenje aimed at restoring sight and improving quality of life for underserved communities.

Attached are images from the first-day post-operative (post-op) review, where patients who underwent cataract surgery were assessed by our clinical team. The reviews focused on monitoring healing progress, checking visual outcomes, and ensuring that patients are recovering well without complications.

The initial outcomes are encouraging, with many patients already experiencing significant improvement in vision. Our team continues to provide follow-up care, patient education, and necessary support to ensure optimal recovery.
