Day - 03 | KABWELA COMMUNITY WASTE MANAGEMENT TRAINING

On 7 September 2026, EcoStewards for Health Initiative (ESHI), together with Kansanshi Mine, continued the “Don’t Burn Waste, Sort It, Compost It and Use It” campaign in Kabwela Community, Solwezi.

About 105 community members came together for a three-hour, practical learning session on responsible waste management, waste sorting and composting.

The community took part in hands-on activities, learning how to identify different types of waste, separate organic materials, and turn locally available organic waste into compost for use in gardens and farms.

Through practical demonstrations and active community participation, the session showed that waste does not have to be something we simply throw away or burn—it can become a valuable resource.

Together, we are building cleaner communities, healthier soils and more sustainable livelihoods.

DAY 02 of Community Waste Management Training – Kimale

On 4 September 2026, ESHI, together with Kansanshi Mine, continued the “Don’t Burn Waste, Sort It, Compost It and Use It” campaign in Kimale Community.

We engaged 115 community members, including farmers, on waste sorting, recycling, composting and practical ways of turning waste into a resource.

The community actively participated, asked questions and shared their experiences, with many pledging to put the lessons into practice.

Don’t Burn Organic Waste, Sort It, Compost It and Use It!

On 3 September 2026, EcoStewards for Health Initiative (ESHI), together with Kansanshi Mine, held a community waste management campaign launch at Kansanshi Hotel in Solwezi.

With over 150 farmers and community members in attendance, the event focused on practical ways to reduce open burning, sort waste, make compost, and use organic waste as a valuable resource for our farms and communities.

Through presentations, discussions, practical demonstrations and a community pledge, participants committed to starting small and taking action towards cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities.
