On March 11, 1993, Jim Abrahams noticed something strange while pushing his son Charlie on a swing.

Charlie’s head twitched.

His arm suddenly je**ed upward.

At first, it seemed minor.

But days later, it happened again.

That moment marked the beginning of a nightmare.

Charlie went from being a healthy, active one-year-old…

To suffering multiple violent seizures every single day.

He was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, one of the most severe forms of epilepsy.

The seizures became so dangerous that his parents padded the walls of his room.

He even wore a football helmet to protect himself from injuries.

Over the next nine months, Charlie endured thousands of seizures.

He went through countless medications, blood tests, brain scans, hospital admissions, and even brain surgery.

Nothing worked.

Five pediatric neurologists in three different cities tried treating him.

So did alternative healers.

But his seizures continued.

And his mental development began falling behind.

By 20 months old, Charlie weighed only 19 pounds.

He was taking four medications…

Yet still suffered hundreds of seizures daily.

The side effects from the drugs became almost as devastating as the disease itself.

But Jim refused to accept there was no hope.

One day, while researching epilepsy at the library, he discovered something almost nobody was talking about:

The ketogenic diet.

A high-fat, very low-carbohydrate diet that had been used for decades to help severe epilepsy.

At the time, only one hospital in the country still offered it:

Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Jim immediately took Charlie there.

Charlie started the ketogenic diet.

And within just two days…

His violent seizures stopped.

After years of suffering, Charlie finally had relief.

Today, Charlie is seizure-free, drug-free, and living a normal life.

The ketogenic diet not only helped stop his seizures…

It also allowed his brain and body to develop normally.

Stories like Charlie’s are one reason researchers continue studying the connection between ketones and brain function.

And why many now call ketones:

“Alternative fuel for the brain.”

If you or someone you love has been struggling with epilepsy ( seizures)

And you’d like to learn how ketones and brain energy may help support cognitive function…

You can book a simple consultation to explore these strategies further and see whether this approach may be a good fit for you.

I recently treated a stroke patient with one physiotherapy session.

First day of treatment, he was unable to lift his left hand and leg.

Second day his left hand had a bit of movement and he stood and tried to walk.

Third day he regained normal use of the left arm and leg and he was able to perform activities of daily living independently.

The symptoms had started 5 days earlier. ( I met the patient on the fifth day)

Before physiotherapy, the patient had been assessed by doctors.

Undergone a CT brain scan, which reportedly showed no acute abnormality.

This raises an interesting clinical question
