Following today’s resolution by Management, we have started our Engagements over the shift to online classes. Network connectivity remains a major challenge to most of the students in certain areas of the country due to poor internet.

UNZASU’s official stance: Wait for campus to be fully ready for the second semester. Let students sit mid-year exams first, then officially open for second semester.

For now, we ask everyone to wait patiently. Nevertheless, kwasila manje. Further guidance will be shared.

Rwanda is considering banning social media use by children under 16, as part of wider efforts to strengthen child protection online. The government says relevant institutions are working together on the draft legislation, which aims to shield minors from harmful content, cyberbullying, and online exploitation as internet access grows across the country. Details of the proposed law are still being developed, including how age limits would be enforced and what responsibilities social media companies would have in ensuring compliance.

LET US PRAY

Dear Lord,

We don’t know who or what will cross our path today but we do know that you are our rock, shield and fortress.

Help us anchor ourselves to you today and walk by your truth and not by our feelings.

Help us embrace anything that comes our way as an opportunity. We pray with thanksgiving in our hearts.

In Jesus's name we pray.

Amen.

CCMG RAISES CONCERNS OVER THE RECENT DELIMITATION.

Sandra K***a

The Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) has released a preliminary statement highlighting concerns over Zambia’s ongoing 2026 boundary delimitation process, warning that emerging disparities could undermine democratic principles.

Following in-person observation of all 116 district-level sittings and 10 provincial-level consultations, CCMG assessed both public accessibility to the process and how effectively the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) facilitated participation and shared information.

CCMG also conducted a comparative analysis of voting power across constituencies before and after the proposed changes.

According to CCMG, early findings point to significant inequalities in representation. Constituencies in Lusaka are reportedly underrepresented compared to those in provinces such as Western, Muchinga, and North-Western. This imbalance suggests that some Members of Parliament represent far larger populations than others, raising concerns about adherence to the constitutional principle of “one person, one vote.”

CCMG emphasized that fair boundary delimitation is central to democratic governance, as it determines how citizens are represented in the National Assembly. They warned that unequal constituency sizes risk weakening public confidence in the electoral system.

However, CCMG noted that a full assessment remains incomplete due to the ECZ’s failure to release detailed data on the new constituency boundaries and population figures.

They have called for greater transparency to enable thorough analysis and ensure that the delimitation process meets constitutional standards.
