Kitwe Teaching Hospital Showcases Oral Health Services at the 60th Zambia International Trade Fair

Kitwe Teaching Hospital is proudly participating in the ongoing 60th Zambia International Trade Fair under the Ministry of Health stand, in line with the theme, "Bridging Healthcare Systems to Build a Healthy and Productive Nation."

The hospital's Oral Health Department is showcasing a comprehensive range of dental services, including oral health promotion and education, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, prophylactic (preventive) care, and oral rehabilitation. These services highlight the hospital's commitment to providing quality, accessible, and patient-centered oral healthcare.

A key feature of the exhibition is the portable dental chair, which enables the provision of dental services during community outreach programs. This innovation supports the Ministry of Health's goal of expanding access to healthcare by bringing essential oral health services closer to underserved and hard-to-reach communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.

By promoting preventive care, early treatment, and equitable access to oral health services, Kitwe Teaching Hospital is contributing to stronger healthcare systems and supporting the development of a healthier, more productive nation.

ZDA Northern Region Scientific Symposium+ Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) Training

The Zambia Dental Association Northern Region Oral Health Scientific Symposium was successfully held over two days, bringing together oral health professionals, researchers, educators, and students to share knowledge and discuss current developments in oral healthcare. The theme for the symposium featured insightful presentations, scientific discussions, and networking opportunities that promoted professional growth and collaboration. The event achieved its objectives of "Oral Health for All: Advancing Dental Care in Zambia".

Dental Training School Participates in CAPAH Exhibition and Community Outreach in Kabompo

The Dental Training School participated in the 2026 Coalition of African Parliamentarians Against HIV/AIDS (CAPAH) workshop and exhibition held in Kabompo District, Northwestern Province, from 5th to 10th May 2026. The outreach program formed part of ongoing efforts to promote oral health awareness and improve access to basic dental services in rural communities.During the activity, the Dental Training School team conducted oral health education sessions and provided preventive and curative dental services to community members in Watopa, Mumbeshi, and Mufuili Wajamba. The services offered included dental extractions, fillings, oral examinations, and oral hygiene demonstrations aimed at preventing common dental diseases.The outreach attracted a large number of community members, many of whom had limited access to dental care services. The team also distributed toothpaste, toothbrushes, and mouthwash to members of the rural communities to encourage proper oral hygiene practices and improve oral health awareness.The Dental Training School acknowledges the valuable support received from cooperating partners Colgate-Palmolive Zambia and Yash Life Sciences, whose contributions helped make the outreach program successful through the provision of oral health promotional materials and products.The outreach program provided an opportunity for the institution to contribute to improving oral health services in underserved areas while supporting government efforts in promoting preventive healthcare. The Dental Training School remains committed to community service and the promotion of oral health across the country.

Kitwe teaching hospital, Dental department participated in this year's labour day celebrations. This was the first time that the department took part in the exhibition.
They won as the best exhibition display.
The head of the department and the entire members of dental department would like to thank Kitwe Teaching Hospital Management Team for the support. They would also like to thank Kano Dental clinic and Tina Medical Center for the support rendered .

An addition of 42 Dental Surgeons to the dental community!!🦷 A total of 42 graduates from Copperbelt University School of Medicine were inducted today the 21 st of April, 2026 in Ndola at Michael Chilufya Sata - SOM. In attendance was the ZDA President, the Vice president and the Editor.
