Why Children Get Lower Radiation Doses
Ever wondered if X-rays are safe for kids? Here's something worth knowing. 🩻
Children aren't just "small adults" their bodies are still growing, and their tissue is more sensitive than an adult's.
Because of this, radiographers use much lower radiation doses when scanning children ucompared to adults.
The machine settings are adjusted specifically for a child's size and the body part being scanned enough to get a clear image, but nothing more than needed.
This is a standard safety practice in radiography, often guided by the principle of using "as low as reasonably achievable" radiation for every scan.
So if your child ever needs an X-ray, know that it's done with extra care, not the same settings used for adults. 👶🩻
