Time heals all wounds.......... so they said...

But honestly, it shouldn't have to.
When you lose someone, people tell you that the pain will eventually shrink.

It won't. The grief stays exactly the same but instead, Your life grows bigger around it.
In the beggining the loss weighs heavy, consuming your entire self, but slowly you start building new memories, you start to laugh again, hope slowly rebuilds....

Your grief is not shrinking but rather you are expanding. You dont have to 'Let go' to move forward. You just have to build enough space in your heart to carry the love and the pain at the exact same time. Its not a matter of 'forgetting' but rather 'integrating'.

The loss never gets smaller.

You just get bigger.

Profound

Some people will love you in theory.

They'll say all the right things.
"I'm here for you."
"Let me know if you need anything."
"Thinking of you."

And then disappear
the moment you actually need them.

Real love shows up.

It doesn't just say the words.

It shows up at 2am.
It shows up on the hard anniversaries.
It shows up without being asked.
It shows up even when you have nothing left
to give back.

Grief taught me the difference
between people who love the idea of being there
and people who actually are.

And it's not always who I expected.

Some people I thought would carry me
disappeared the second it got hard.

And some people I barely knew
showed up every single time
without me even having to ask.

I don't resent the ones who left.

I understand now.
Grief is heavy.
Not everyone can carry it.

But I will never forget
who actually did.

And I will spend the rest of my life
showing up the way they showed up for me.

As we say goodbye to the month of June, lets agree it has been hard especially to those who lost a father figure ( father, brother, uncle, grandfather, husband)
Social media feeds have been filled with celebrations, but to those navigating grief, this month felt less like a celebration and more like a quite and heavy endurance test!

If June was a painful reminder of a relationship that once was.... please know this:
Your grief is valid.
Its okay if you pulled back.
You are not alone.

As we move into July, be GENTLE with yourself, you survived a difficult month...

The "5 stages of Grief" were never meant for you.
Don't feel guilty for not moving smoothly from 'Denial' to 'Anger ' to 'Acceptance'.

Did you know...Elizabeth Kubler-Ross originally developed these stages from her assesment of people who were terminally ill?
They were never meant to be a checklist for the person left behind.

As a psychologist , i see so many clients fell like they are "failing " at grief, they assume theres a sequence to follow...

But real grief doesnt look like a straight line, it is a wave.

You may feel fine this morning and completly devastated in the afternoon.

That isnt a relapse, it is just the natural rhythm of loss. If you are grieving right now , throw away the timeline....

Give yourself permission to feel whatever stage you are in today - even if its three of them at once.
