Creating your calm isn’t just about the art—it’s about the space we hold for it.
I often get asked how much work goes into a therapeutic art session before we even pick up a brush. The truth? It’s a delicate balance!
The Planning: It starts with intentionality—mapping out goals and choosing the right medium to help you express what words sometimes can’t. The Setup: We spend about 5 minutes just getting the materials ready, which is actually the first step in grounding ourselves for the work ahead.
The real treat for me? Doing this work at the , Sitting here, right next to , adds so much peace to the process. There’s something about the hum of the community and the scent of the best coffee in Mount Pleasant that makes the healing feel just a bit more reachable. ☕️💛
Whether it’s a 50-minute deep dive or a longer 90-minute flow, every minute is an investment in your well-being.
Come sit with me. Let’s create some space for you.

Some days it’s just 15 minutes between planning sessions and mum-life, but I’ve learned how much can live in that small space. A little experiment. A tiny work. Something just for me. It’s not about the length of time—it’s about choosing to return to your own practice, again and again. However small your window is today, fill it gently. It counts.

Another time lapse of coloring time with babe in my favorite place!
Being a mum of three can be very stretching, I am so thankful to have some art supplies and a space where I can do even ten minutes when baby is awake and a bit longer when she’s asleep a few times a week of coloring or something creative. Having this space reminds me that I’m not a robot mum, just changing nappies and doing laundry dishes and cooking, but that I have purpose within these seemingly mundane tasks and purpose beyond all of these things. Art has been my companion as I’ve navigated through grief and searching for identity within the many changes that motherhood and loss can fling one into. Art has been an anchoring place where I feel found again. Do you have a space where you can go consistently to create or doodle or color within the rhythm of your week?

When was the last time you truly listened to your body? We often live from the neck up, ignoring the “histories” stored in our muscles and breath. Creative expression—whether it’s the tactile grounding of clay or the fluidity of watercolor—acts as a sensorimotor tool to help us drop back in. It helps us identify our deepest needs: for safety, for rest, or for a voice.
Close your eyes and ask your body: “What color do you feel today?” Tell me in the comments. 🌿
