Men, strength isn’t carrying everything alone - it’s knowing when to seek help.

Developing a health-seeking habit means checking in with yourself the same way you check your car, your phone, or your tools: early, honestly, and without shame. Talk to a trusted friend, visit a clinic, join a support circle, or just say “I’m not okay” out loud. Every step you take for your mental health builds a stronger you, a stronger family, and a stronger community. Start today - your well-being is worth it.

🌍 1. Climate change isn't waiting for the future. It's already here — from heatwaves and droughts to floods affecting communities across the globe, including Zimbabwe.
🌡️ 2. Why is everyone obsessed with 1.5°C? Because crossing that limit could mean more extreme weather, food shortages, and tougher living conditions. It's the world's climate "red line."
💰 3. Who pays when climate disasters destroy lives? This sparked a huge discussion around the Loss and Damage Fund — a global fund meant to help countries recover from climate-related losses.
🤔 4. Is climate change a Western idea? Not at all. Climate change affects everyone, but many African countries are paying the highest price despite contributing the least to the problem.
📱 5. Climate information can save lives. A simple weather alert or early warning can help communities prepare for floods, droughts, and storms before disaster strikes.
⚖️ 6. Climate justice is the real conversation. The people least responsible for climate change are often the ones suffering the most from its impacts.
🙋🏽‍♀️ 7. Young people aren't just the future — we're part of the solution now. From advocacy and innovation to community action, youth voices are shaping climate conversations and demanding accountability.

*HSEM Youth Leading Change*
We’re proud to announce that 2 HSEM members are currently taking part in the Youth Economic Empowerment Advocacy Bootcamp under the _Safe & Inclusive Cities_ project.

This bootcamp aligns with NDS2 priorities on job creation, youth empowerment, and inclusive development. Our members are building advocacy skills to drive economic opportunities and safer spaces for youth in Harare’s communities.

Congrats to Munashe Sande and Stanley Mundenda for representing HSEM! We can’t wait to bring the lessons back to Stoneridge, Hopley, Mbare, Epworth & Hatfield.

Today, Health Safety Eco-Movement and International Zimbabwe proudly joined hands with the communities of Stoneridge, Hopley, and Mbare for a clean-up campaign. From streets to open spaces, residents, youth, and volunteers came together with one purpose: to take action for a cleaner, healthier environment.

Our mantra is simple — _we are invested in climate action today, before it’s too late. Litter, blocked drains, and waste are not just eyesores. They affect our health, increase flooding, and damage the land we all depend on. Small steps like collecting waste, reducing, reusing, and recycling create a big impact when we do them together.

This clean-up is more than a one-day event. It’s a reminder that our planet, our health, and our future are connected. Government, communities, private sector, and citizens must keep working side by side, brick by brick.

Let’s keep the momentum. _Climate action now, not tomorrow._ Together, we can heal the Earth.

What’s one action you’ll take in your area this week? 💚

Youth empowerment sounds straightforward until you sit in a room like we did in Epworth for the and Inclusive Cities Phase 2 and hear what young people are actually living through.

Representing Health Safety Eco-Movement, I came to review the National Youth Empowerment Strategy. I left with a sharper sense of how far we still have to go to turn it into real change.

The strategy talks about fair pay, safe jobs, and inclusion. That matters. But too many young people I spoke with are stuck in attachments and internships that cost them more than they give back, unpaid work, little support, and a few clear pathways forward. That is not empowerment. That is exhaustion.

It reminded me why tracking policy is not just paperwork. A good strategy only means something if a young person can feel it in their life, in their paycheck, in the dignity of their work. We need to keep watching what gets implemented, listen to what youth are experiencing, and fix what is not working quickly.

As HEALTH SAFETY ECO-MOVEMENT we are so grateful to International Zimbabwe, Trust and on Shelter for the Homeless in Zimbabwe Trust, Youth Council, and everyone who created space for these honest conversations. And a special thank you to Zimbabwe Institute. The policy tracking skills they shared pushed me to think differently, to look beyond the usual boxes, and it shaped how we showed up in Epworth.

If the National Youth Empowerment Strategy is going to deliver, it will take all of us, government, civil society, and youth working together. Policy needs to move from documents to practice. Young people need to move from being consulted to being co-creators of the solutions.

Second Community Outreach Programme Hopley Community

Activity: Menstrual Hygiene Management and Green Initiatives Outreach
Date: 26 May 2025
Venue: Hopley Community, Harare
Organised by: Health Safety Eco -Movement (HSEM)
Supported by: Plan International Zimbabwe

As part of its ongoing community engagement mandate, HSEM conducted its second outreach programme in Hopley Community. The programme focused on two interconnected thematic areas: Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and Green Initiatives, reflecting HSEM's commitment to promoting health, dignity, and environmental sustainability among young people in peri-urban communities.
The outreach attracted a total of 38 youths from Hopley Community. Participants actively engaged in group discussions, shared personal experiences on menstrual health, and contributed ideas on improving environmental practices within their community.
HSEM facilitators conducted detailed sessions on how women and girls should approach their menstrual cycle using safe and hygienic methods. Participants were guided on the use, care, and maintenance of reusable menstrual products. The programme also drew direct links between menstrual hygiene and environmental issues affecting communities, particularly the improper dumping of disposable sanitary wear. Participants discussed better and more responsible methods of disposing of sanitary products, and committed to adopting greener practices going forward.
With the generous support of Plan International Zimbabwe, reusable sanitary pads, sanitary pants, and menstrual cups were distributed amongst participants. Many expressed that they had limited prior knowledge of reusable menstrual products and welcomed the information and items shared.
HSEM extends its deepest appreciation to Plan International Zimbabwe for their continued support in providing eco-friendly menstrual hygiene products for this outreach. Their partnership remains integral to HSEM's community health and environmental sustainability
