Full arch rehabilitation is where prosthodontics becomes pure strategy.

This case wasn’t just about crowns and bridges — it required complete control of occlusion, esthetics, and spatial design.

We restored the maxillary arch while increasing the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) by 5mm to re-establish function and facial balance. The challenges were significant:
• Severe deep bite compromising function
• Occlusal cant affecting smile symmetry
• Excessive spacing making tooth proportions difficult to idealize
• irregular gingival zeniths
• Irregular distribution of edentulous spaces
• Risk of ending up with short, square, unaesthetic teeth

The solution required precise occlusal planning, proportional smile design, and biomechanically sound crown and bridge work — not just “placing teeth,” but engineering a system.

Result:
A balanced occlusion, corrected cant, proper tooth proportions, and a functional, esthetic maxillary reconstruction that integrates with the entire stomatognathic system.

This is the difference between dentistry and prosthodontics.

All-on-X is often marketed as a “surgical solution” for missing teeth—but in reality, it’s primarily a prosthodontic procedure.

Yes, implants are placed surgically. But the entire success of an All-on-X case depends on prosthodontic planning: occlusion, vertical dimension, smile design, phonetics, load distribution, and long-term biomechanics.

In other words: the surgery follows the prosthetic blueprint.

When All-on-X cases fail, it’s rarely because the implant couldn’t integrate. It’s usually because the prosthetic planning wasn’t done correctly—improper implant positioning, poor occlusal scheme, or compromised restorative design.

That’s why in full-arch implant rehabilitation, the prosthodontist should lead the treatment plan, ensuring implants are placed exactly where the final prosthesis needs them.

Implants support the teeth.
Prosthodontics designs the smile.
