After a few weeks away from training, it can be tempting to pick up exactly where you left off.

But your muscles, tendons and joints need time to adapt again. A gradual return gives your body the chance to rebuild its tolerance to training and can help reduce the risk of an unnecessary setback.

Give yourself time to get back to your previous level. Your body will catch up.

After more than 20 years treating sports injuries, I can say that the sport itself is rarely the problem.

What I see more often is the body being asked to do something it simply wasn't prepared for, whether that's a sudden increase in training, returning too quickly, or pushing through pain.

Enjoy your sport, but give your body the preparation it needs to keep doing it.

A simple fall shouldn't always lead to a fracture.
As we age, our bones naturally become more fragile, which means even a fall from standing height can result in a serious injury. That's why what may seem like a "minor accident" should never be underestimated.

The good news? Bone health can be protected through early diagnosis, the right treatment, and preventive care.

👨🏻‍⚕️ Looking after your bones today can help you stay active and independent for years to come.

Not every patient I see is an athlete.

Many OF THEM simply want to climb the stairs comfortably, enjoy a round of golf, travel without pain, or get back to everyday life.

Helping people return to the activities that matter most to them is what orthopaedics is really about.

One of the things I enjoy most about orthopaedic surgery is that no two procedures are exactly the same.

Every patient is different. Every injury is different. That means every operation requires its own plan, based on careful assessment, experience, and the outcome we're aiming to achieve.

The body already knows how to heal a broken bone.

The real question is whether the fracture is stable enough to heal in the correct position, or whether it needs additional support to achieve the best possible outcome.

Every fracture is different, which is why the right treatment always starts with the right assessment.

Every treatment plan starts with one question: What is the best option for this patient?

In orthopaedics, there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. The same diagnosis can lead to different treatment plans depending on the injury, the patient, and their goals.
The best outcomes come from understanding the full picture, not just the scan.

Think you might benefit from seeing an orthopaedic surgeon? An accurate diagnosis is the first step towards choosing the right treatment. Book a consultation: link in bio

Can you still move your shoulder with a rotator cuff tear?

Yes—and that's why these injuries can sometimes be overlooked.

Your body is remarkably good at compensating, with other muscles helping to maintain movement even when part of the rotator cuff is injured.

But movement alone doesn't tell the full story.
Some tears can progress over time, affecting tendon quality and influencing future treatment options.

Not every rotator cuff tear requires surgery, but an early assessment can help determine the most appropriate treatment before the injury progresses.
