πŸŽ’ What looks like a simple instruction can involve much more than we realise.

β€œPack your bag” sounds easy.

But to complete that one task, a child has to listen, understand, remember, organise, stay focused, and know when the task is finished.
That process may look different from child to child.

🧠 Child with ADHD

They can complete the task, but staying with it may be harder.
You may notice them:

➑️ Starting quickly and then getting distracted
➑️ Forgetting an item and needing a verbal reminder
➑️ Moving from one thing to another while packing
➑️ Finishing in a hurry and immediately moving on to the next activity

A little verbal prompting or redirection may help them stay on track.

πŸ‘¦ Neurotypical child

They may understand the instruction, remember what they need, and complete the task independently. But completing the task doesn't mean they have to be excited about it! πŸ˜„

🌈 Child with Autism

They can also complete the task, but the task itself may require more structure and support. Packing a bag can involve several steps, decisions, and changes β€” which may make the task more complex.

They may benefit from:

➑️ A familiar routine for packing
➑️ A consistent order of items
➑️ Clear, simple instructions
➑️ Visual cues or a checklist
➑️ Appropriate prompting to move through each step

Once the routine becomes familiar, the child may know what comes next and what β€œfinished” looks like.

Speech therapy doesn't always require complex toolsβ€”sometimes, it starts with helping a child hear their own voice clearly. 🎧

Tools like Whisper Phones provide direct auditory feedback. When children speak into the tube, their voice amplifies directly into their ear without background noise. This simple play-based tool helps them:

β€‹βž‘οΈ 1. Build Auditory Self-Monitoring

Children learn to hear the difference between correct and incorrect speech sound placement in real time.

β€‹βž‘οΈ 2. Improve Speech Sound Precision

Direct auditory feedback helps refine articulation for sounds like /s/, /r/, /l/, and /sh/.

β€‹βž‘οΈ 3. Enhance Voice & Volume Control

Helps children adjust their vocal intensity and self-regulate sound output during play.

β€‹βž‘οΈ 4. Make Therapy Engaging & Fun

Turns repetitive articulation practice into an interactive, telephone-style game.

🌈 Every week at Bridges Summer Camp brings a new experience, helping children learn, connect, explore, and create memories along the way.

Our Summer Camp 2026 campers had an exciting and thought-provoking visit to the Museum of the Future, Dubai, where they explored new ideas, interactive experiences, technology, and possibilities beyond the world they see every day. πŸŒπŸš€

✨ At Bridges, our Summer Camp experiences are carefully planned to take learning beyond the therapy room. Visiting new places gives children opportunities to explore unfamiliar environments, communicate, ask questions, make observations, follow instructions, and build confidence through real-world experiences.

A special thank you to the Museum of the Future team for welcoming our campers and providing such an inspiring environment for exploration and discovery. ✨

We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Ahlam Ahmed Abu Yousef Ahlam Ahmed for her active participation and valuable contribution to the Bridges Summer Camp. Your involvement helped make these experiences even more meaningful for our children. πŸ’™
