AccessAbilities Expo 2026 💙
AccessAbilities Expo is more than an exhibition — it brings together families, professionals, organisations, and the wider community around accessibility, rehabilitation, inclusion, and support.
For Bridges, being part of this platform was an opportunity to connect with the community, share our experience, introduce our multidisciplinary services, and learn from the people and professionals working across the field.

Across three days, our team had the opportunity to meet parents, caregivers, therapists, educators, healthcare professionals, and organisations — each conversation bringing a different perspective.
We’re grateful to everyone who visited Stand 6209, spoke with our team, asked questions, shared experiences, or simply stopped by to say hello.

Does your child feel unsure when their feet leave the ground?” 🛝

A platform swing provides a broad, flat and stable surface where a child can sit, lie down or even stand while experiencing movement.

For children who are new to swinging or less confident with movement, this wider surface can provide a more secure starting point while they gradually experience movement.

✨ What are we working on?

1️⃣ Building Movement Confidence
The stable, spacious surface can help beginners feel more secure while being introduced to movement.

2️⃣ Balance & Postural Control
As the platform moves, the child needs to adjust their body position to maintain balance.

3️⃣ Core Strength & Stability
Maintaining a stable position while the swing moves encourages the child to engage their core and trunk muscles.

4️⃣ Attention During Movement
The child needs to remain aware of their body and surroundings while responding to the movement of the swing.

🌟 The goal isn't simply to make the swing move.

It's about giving the child a stable starting point to experience movement, build confidence and gradually develop the balance and body control needed for more challenging movement activities.

How do we teach children to understand community helpers and professions? 👨‍🚒👩‍⚕️👮

​Learning to identify professionals like firefighters, doctors, police officers, and teachers gives children vital safety awareness and social vocabulary!

​In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), we use Discrete Trial Training (DTT)—a structured, evidence-based teaching method that breaks complex skills down into small, achievable steps:

​1️⃣ Discriminative Stimulus (SD): Delivering a clear, direct instruction (e.g., "Point to the firefighter").

2️⃣ Child's Response: Allowing the child time to respond, with gentle, immediate prompting when needed to ensure errorless learning.

3️⃣ Reinforcement: Instantly providing specific praise or reward to strengthen correct responses.

4️⃣ Generalization: Taking the skill beyond cards into books, play, and real-life visits in the community!

​By creating a structured, predictable environment with high positive motivation, children build solid cognitive foundations and functional vocabulary with confidence! 💙

هل يواجه طفلكم صعوبة في نطق صوت «س»؟
بالنسبة للعديد من الأطفال، فإن نطق صوت «س» لا يقتصر على تقليد الصوت فحسب، بل يتطلب وضع اللسان بدقة والتحكم في تدفّق الهواء.
وهنا يأتي دور الوسائل البصرية البسيطة، التي تساعد الطفل على تعلّم نطق الصوت بشكل صحيح.
🥤 استخدام الماصّة
تساعد الطفل على تصوّر مسار تدفّق الهواء بوضوح.
➡️ تساعد الطفل على فهم الاتجاه الصحيح لخروج الهواء.
تشجّع على تدفّق الهواء بشكل مستمر ومنتظم، وهو أمر مهم لنطق صوت «س» بشكل صحيح. 
👅 وضعية اللسان
➡️تبقي اللسان خلف الأسنان الأمامية.
➡️ تلامس جانبا اللسان الأسنان العلوية برفق.
➡️ يتشكّل أخدود صغير في منتصف اللسان يوجّه الهواء إلى الأمام. 

🗣️ النتيجة
➡️ تحكّم أفضل في تدفّق الهواء.
➡️ تحسّن في وضعية اللسان. 
➡️ نطق صوت «س» بدقّة أكبر.

✨ أحيانًا، لا يحتاج الطفل إلى مزيد من التدريب بقدر حاجته إلى التوجيه المناسب لفهم الوضعية الصحيحة للسان وكيفية تدفّق الهواء أثناء النطق.
لأن نطق أصوات الكلام هي مهارات حركية  والمهارات الحركية يمكن تعلّمها وتطويرها. 💙

“My child can hear with their cochlear implant… but are they learning to listen?” 👂✨

Getting access to sound through a cochlear implant (CI) is an important step, but children also need opportunities to learn how to listen, understand and use what they hear in everyday situations.

A cochlear implant (CI) is a device that can provide access to sound for children with significant hearing loss who may benefit from cochlear implantation.

Unlike a hearing aid, which amplifies sound, a cochlear implant bypasses damaged parts of the inner ear and directly stimulates the auditory nerve with electrical signals, giving the brain access to sound.

In Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT), therapy focuses on helping children make meaningful use of their auditory access.

🧠 Auditory discrimination
🗣️ Understanding spoken language
💭 Auditory memory
🏠 Listening during everyday activities

🎧 CI gives a child access to sound. AVT helps build the listening skills needed to make meaningful use of that access.

The goal is not simply for a child to “hear.” It is to support their journey from hearing → listening → understanding → communicating.

Real Voices, Real Change: World Mental Health Day 2026 🧠💙

​We want to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to Symbiosis International University, Dubai, for inviting our Clinical Psychologist, Ms. Pragila VM, to participate in the inspiring panel discussion alongside Ms. Ana Kaminski.
​Centered around the theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change," the event created a safe, open space to discuss mental health, neurodiversity, and the importance of compassionate support systems.

​A special thank you to all the faculty members, students, and visitors who attended, shared their perspectives, and asked such insightful questions. Open conversations like these are vital in breaking down stigmas and building a stronger, more empathetic community.🌍✨
