Motherhood can bring joy, but the postpartum period can also feel emotionally and physically overwhelming. Persistent sadness, anxiety, guilt, exhaustion, irritability or difficulty connecting with the baby may be signs that additional support is needed.

Dr. Preethy Raguraman, Specialist Psychiatrist at Openminds Center, explains postpartum depression and why mothers should not have to face it alone.

Postpartum depression is not a personal failure. With compassionate support and professional care, recovery is possible. 💙

Stress and anxiety can feel similar, but they are not always the same.

Stress is often connected to a specific pressure and may ease once the situation passes. Anxiety may continue even without a clear trigger, making worry difficult to control and sometimes affecting sleep, concentration and daily life.

Both experiences are valid—and both deserve care. If the symptoms persist, feel overwhelming or interfere with everyday functioning, consider speaking with a qualified mental health professional. 💙

Your emotional wellbeing and physical health are closely connected. Stress, anxiety and emotional exhaustion can affect how your body feels—while physical health challenges can also influence your mood and mental wellbeing.

Whole-person care means listening to your body, caring for your emotions and seeking support when something does not feel right.

Your mind and heart both deserve care, compassion and attention. 💙

Behaviour is often more than what we see in the moment—it can be a child’s way of communicating an unmet need, overwhelming emotion or difficulty expressing themselves.

Before reacting, pause and look beyond the behaviour:

🔍 Notice the trigger
💙 Identify the need
🌿 Respond with calm
🤝 Build connection

When we approach behaviour with curiosity instead of judgment, we create space for children to feel understood, supported and safe.

Understanding comes before correction.

Occasional forgetfulness can happen to anyone. However, when memory changes begin affecting daily tasks, safety, independence or familiar routines, it may be time to seek professional guidance.

A compassionate clinical evaluation can help families better understand these changes, explore appropriate support and plan the next steps—without judgment or assumptions.

Caregivers need support too. Asking for help is an important step towards clarity and reassurance. 💙

Depression is not laziness, weakness or a lack of willpower. It is a real medical condition that can affect a person’s emotions, thoughts, energy, sleep and ability to manage everyday life.

Dr. Preethy Raghuraman, Specialist Psychiatrist at Openminds Center, explains why depression should be met with understanding, appropriate support and professional care—not judgment.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It is a courageous step towards recovery. 💙
