A tip from my book
You can use Tretinoin for anti-ageing if you have rosacea, you just need to take it slowly. This would be done once the rosacea is under control. Swipe to read!

The age old question - should you pop a pimple? Try to leave it alone as much as possible. It also depends on the type of pimple, as explained in this video! I hope this helps.

You can get too close to your skin, and when you do, you may start to think that natural minor irregularities in your skin are a disease when, in fact, they are on everyone’s skin.

So as a first step to feeling good about your skin (if you have found yourself stressing out about what you see in that brightly lit super-magnifying mirror) is to simply get rid of the mirror!

Do you own a magnifying mirror?

In this clip from the latest Dubai Doctors episode, Cheryl Warsama (), Consultant Counselling Psychologist, talks about why couples counselling can be valuable even when a relationship isn’t in crisis, and why understanding what “I love you” means to each person matters.

In our wider conversation, we explore relationships and modern dating, from communication, conflict and compatibility to dating apps, social media, infidelity, loneliness and the challenges of finding a partner today.

Do you think couples should consider counselling before there’s a problem?

Are women more susceptible to acne than men? Here are my thoughts...

One thing I definitely notice in my clinics but also through observing people generally is that adult women get acne a lot more commonly than adult males (in this context an adult is someone over 25 years old).

Why is that? We know that raised blood levels of androgens cause acne in teenage girls. Importantly, physical or psychological stress is known to be a stimulus for your adrenal glands to produce androgens.

Do I think adult women are more stressed than adult men? Maybe – but certain adult women may be more sensitive to androgens than men (remember, there are also androgen receptors on scalp hair follicles).

It is easy to blame everything on stress, but I do think some women are more sensitive to stress-induced fluctuations of hormones, and that may partially account for some women’s adult acne problems (and even possibly hair thinning).

What are your thoughts? Have you noticed this?

Occlusive moisturisers like Vaseline will not make your retinoic acid (tretinoin) more irritating. It just doesn’t work like that.

Using an occlusive moisturiser can actually help combat the dryness and irritation you may experience from treatment. It won’t make it worse.

So, if you’ve been avoiding Vaseline because you’ve heard it will make tretinoin more irritating, just try it and see how your skin responds.

Have you tried using an occlusive moisturiser with tretinoin? Let me know in the comments 👇
