Successful surgical correction of Hallux Valgus

Ms. Hina Mohamed presented with Hallux Valgus deformity, since many months she was suffering with pain in both feet and had difficulty in wearing shoes because of the deformed shape of the foot. She tried many conservative treatments but all measures failed and didn't give her any relief.

She visited Saudi German Hospital Sharjah's Orthopedic Department where she was assessed by our team. Considering the severity of her condition, surgical intervention was recommended. She was operated on the left side (which had more pain) by our team led by Dr. Mahantesh Magadum (Specialist Orthopedic Surgery). She underwent Scarf Osteotomy of the 1st metatarsal bone with soft tissue release and medial capsular repair of the 1st MTP joint.

Following the surgery, she was immediately made to walk with offloading shoes. She has shown great improvement, completed her physiotherapy and is recovering very well.

Our team will continue to monitor her progress in future. We wish her a healthy and happy life ahead.
