Two inches. Almost two years.
And yes, sometimes that has been frustrating.
Especially because I’m a coach.
I’ve watched clients make changes in 3, 4 or 6 months that took me considerably longer to figure out in my own body.
But there’s a reason for that.
They don’t have to make all the mistakes I made first.
I had to learn through my own body.
How I was breathing.
How I was managing pressure.
How I was standing and moving throughout the day.
How I was approaching my core training.
What I was compensating with.
What needed strengthening rather than simply “pulling my stomach in.”
And then I had to repeat those things for long enough for them to matter.
My clients get the version of that knowledge that has already been questioned, practised, adjusted and simplified.
And still, bodies have their own timelines.
Some women notice significant changes within months.
Some take longer.
Progress isn’t always linear, and diastasis isn’t something I judge only by how a stomach looks or by the width of a gap.
Function matters. Pressure management matters. Strength matters. How you feel in your body matters.
And yes — sometimes it’s strange being the coach whose own progress is slower than her clients’.
But maybe that’s also part of why I don’t give up on women when their bodies don’t change on somebody else’s timeline.
Mine didn’t either. And it still changed.
