👂 ما هو زرع القوقعة؟

زرع القوقعة هو إجراء متطور يهدف إلى مساعدة الأشخاص الذين يعانون من فقدان سمع شديد إلى عميق، وذلك من خلال تنبيه العصب السمعي مباشرةً وتجاوز الجزء غير الوظيفي من الأذن الداخلية.

يتكون جهاز زرع القوقعة من جزأين:
✅ جزء خارجي يحتوي على ميكروفون يلتقط الأصوات ويحولها إلى إشارات مشفرة.
✅ جزء داخلي مزروع جراحيًا يستقبل هذه الإشارات ويرسلها مباشرة إلى العصب السمعي.

متى نلجأ إلى زرع القوقعة؟

عادةً ما يتم تقييم المريض أولًا باستخدام المعينات السمعية (السماعات الطبية).

إذا حققت السماعات استفادة جيدة، يستمر المريض باستخدامها. أما في حالات فقدان السمع الشديد إلى العميق التي لا تحقق فيها المعينات السمعية النتائج المطلوبة، أو لا يتطور فيها الكلام واللغة بشكل كافٍ، فقد يكون زرع القوقعة هو الخيار الأنسب.

👂 What Is a Cochlear Implant?

A cochlear implant is an advanced hearing device designed for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss. It works by directly stimulating the auditory nerve, bypassing the non-functioning parts of the inner ear.

The cochlear implant consists of two components:
✅ An external processor with a microphone that captures sounds and converts them into coded signals.
✅ An internal implanted device that receives these signals and directly stimulates the auditory nerve.

When Is a Cochlear Implant Recommended?

Patients are usually evaluated with hearing aids first.

If hearing aids provide sufficient benefit, they remain the preferred option. However, for patients with severe to profound hearing loss who receive limited benefit from hearing aids, or whose speech and language development remains significantly affected, cochlear implantation may be recommended.

✨ Early intervention and comprehensive auditory and speech rehabilitation after surgery are key factors in achieving the best possible outcomes and improving quality of life.

Is your child walking with their feet turning inward? 👣

This is called intoeing, and it’s very common in children.

In most cases, the cause is not the foot — it’s the hip joint.
Some children are born with increased inward rotation of the hip, which makes them naturally walk this way. You may also notice they prefer sitting in the “W position.”

The good news?
✔️ This is usually physiological (normal)
✔️ It often corrects on its own by the age of 5–6 years

What should parents do?
• Encourage sitting cross-legged instead of W sitting
• Monitor progress as your child grows

🚫 Special shoes and insoles are not effective in most cases, as the issue comes from the hip — not the foot.

When to check with a doctor?
If it doesn’t improve after 5–6 years, or if you’re unsure, it’s always best to get a proper assessment. Physiotherapy may help in some cases.

Also, it’s important to rule out other conditions like metatarsus adductus, which requires a different approach.

هل يمشي طفلك وقدماه متجهتان للداخل؟ 👣

تُعرف هذه الحالة باسم دوران القدم للداخل (Intoeing)، وهي شائعة جدًا عند الأطفال.

في أغلب الحالات، السبب ليس من القدم نفسها بل من مفصل الورك، حيث يكون اتجاه الورك مائلًا للأمام بشكل أكبر من الطبيعي، مما يجعل الطفل يمشي بهذه الطريقة.
وقد تلاحظ أيضًا أن الطفل يفضل الجلوس بوضعية W.

الخبر الجيد؟
✔️ هذه الحالة غالبًا طبيعية
✔️ وتتحسن تدريجيًا حتى عمر 5–6 سنوات

ماذا يجب على الأهل فعله؟
• تشجيع الطفل على الجلوس بوضعية القرفصاء (متقاطع الأرجل) بدل وضعية W
• متابعة الحالة مع نمو الطفل

🚫 الأحذية الطبية أو الفرشات غير فعالة في أغلب الحالات لأن المشكلة من الورك وليس القدم.

متى يجب استشارة الطبيب؟
إذا لم تتحسن الحالة بعد عمر 5–6 سنوات أو في حال وجود قلق، يُفضل التقييم الطبي. وقد تساعد جلسات العلاج الطبيعي في بعض الحالات.

كما يجب التأكد من عدم وجود حالات أخرى مثل تقوس مقدمة القدم (Metatarsus Adductus)، والتي تحتاج إلى علاج مختلف.

Groin (inguinal) hernias can put pressure on nerves and blood vessels, leading to pain, discomfort, and reduced satisfaction. It can also impact your workouts, daily activities, and even simple tasks like driving.

Don’t ignore the signs. Early treatment can prevent it from getting worse. 💡

Are your child’s legs looking bowed? 👶

Don’t worry — physiological bowing is very common in young children and is part of normal development.

When babies are born, their legs often appear bowed due to their position in the womb. This can continue until around 1–1.5 years, and may even look more noticeable when they start walking — especially in early walkers.

The good news?
✔️ In most cases, it improves naturally by the age of 2 years
✔️ After that, it may even shift temporarily to “knock knees” (X-shape) — which is also normal

🚨 When should you be concerned?
If the bowing:
• Continues to worsen after 1.5 years
• Looks severe
• Doesn’t start improving

It’s always best to consult your doctor for reassurance.

Next, we’ll talk about intoeing (walking with feet turning inward).

هل لاحظت أن ساقي طفلك تبدوان مقوستين؟ 👶

لا داعي للقلق — تقوس الساقين الطبيعي شائع جدًا عند الأطفال وهو جزء من النمو الطبيعي.
