A Milestone in Advanced Thoracic Surgery at Thumbay University Hospital
We are proud to announce the successful completion of our hospital’s first-ever Left Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) wedge resection, marking another significant milestone in our commitment to delivering advanced, minimally invasive surgical care.
The patient was diagnosed with two small lung masses in the upper lobe after an initial biopsy yielded inconclusive results. Our expert thoracic surgical team successfully performed a Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) wedge resection, a highly advanced “keyhole” procedure that enabled the precise removal of both lung masses through small incisions.
This minimally invasive approach significantly reduced post-operative pain, faster recovery, and required only a one-night hospital stay. Follow-up imaging confirmed that the lungs were fully expanded, and the patient was safely discharged in excellent condition to continue recovery at home.
