Therapy needs an onboarding experience and an exit plan.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The goal is for us to work as a team (me the therapist and you the parent) to teach your child or teenager how to cope with their anxiety or OCD in the future.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
We want them to be independent adults who are able to self-regulate, deal with stress and figure out their own way to look after their own mental health in the future.​​​​​​​​

Anxiety and OCD are beasts. I was gripped with panic disorder, intrusive thoughts and generalised anxiety at different stages of my life.​​​​​​​​

🌟 This is a powerful film that captures the intrusive thoughts young people with OCD deal with.

🌟 The OCD is a bully telling you that you’re in danger, when you’re not or that something bad is going to happen based on your choices.

🌟 The more you listen to it; the louder and more dominating it becomes.

🌟 This leads to more rituals, compulsions and other safety behaviours.

🌟 During therapy, young people are encouraged to ‘talk back’ to their OCD bully…this is called exposures.

🌟 It’s great when parents are fully involved in this treatment & understand what to say to support the young person.
