Types of Rest | Part 5: Sensory Rest
Sometimes, the exhaustion we feel is not because we have done too much, but because our senses have been overloaded. Bright screens, endless notifications, busy environments, loud noises, and constant stimulation can leave our minds feeling overwhelmed without us even realizing it.
In this video, Ms. Sailaja Menon, Psychologist at American Wellness Center, explains how sensory rest helps us step away from the constant input our brains process every day and create space for calm and clarity.
Sensory rest does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as putting your phone away for a while, dimming the lights, taking a quiet walk in nature, closing your eyes for a few minutes, or simply enjoying a moment of silence.
When we allow our senses to slow down, we feel more present, more balanced, and better able to cope with the demands of daily life.
Take a moment today to unplug, breathe, and give your senses the break they deserve.
