Having endometriosis does not automatically mean you need to freeze your eggs. However, in some women, endometriosis can affect ovarian reserve, especially when ovarian endometriomas are present or surgery on the ovaries may be required.

The decision to freeze eggs depends on several factors, including your age, ovarian reserve, severity of endometriosis, and future pregnancy plans.

The most important step is to assess your fertility early and understand your options before fertility becomes a concern.

If you have endometriosis and are thinking about your future fertility, discuss fertility preservation with your specialist to make an informed decision.

“My ultrasound is normal… so I don’t have endometriosis?”

A normal ultrasound does NOT rule out endometriosis. Many women with severe pelvic pain, painful periods, painful in*******se, bowel symptoms, bloating, or infertility may still have endometriosis even when routine scans appear normal.

Endometriosis can sometimes be hidden, superficial, or located deep within the pelvis and may require:
✔️ Detailed history & symptom evaluation
✔️ Specialized pelvic ultrasound mapping
✔️ MRI in selected cases
✔️ Assessment by an endometriosis specialist & multidisciplinary team

Your symptoms matter. Don’t ignore them just because a scan says “normal.”

Do you always need surgery for endometriosis?
The short answer: No — not everyone does.

Endometriosis treatment is highly individualized. While many women improve with medications or hormonal therapy, there are specific situations where surgery can be the best option.

👉 You may need endometriosis surgery if:
• Severe pelvic pain not improving with medication
• Pain affecting daily life, work, or sleep
• Deep endometriosis involving bowel, bladder, or nerves
• Ovarian cysts (endometriomas)
• Difficulty conceiving or infertility concerns
• Suspected adhesions or organ involvement

But here’s what matters most 👇
Surgery is not the first step — it’s a carefully planned decision.

✔️ Based on your symptoms
✔️ Detailed imaging (ultrasound/MRI)
✔️ Fertility plans
✔️ Previous treatments

Honored to participate in the Endometriosis India Conference, where I had the opportunity to present on “Endometriosis in Adolescents.”

The conference was an excellent platform for meaningful discussions and exchange of ideas on improving the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. It was inspiring to engage with leading experts and colleagues who are deeply committed to advancing women’s health and endometriosis care.

My sincere appreciation to Dr. Vimee and the entire organizing team for putting together such a well-organized and insightful conference.

It was also wonderful to reconnect with friends and colleagues who share the same passion for improving care for women living with endometriosis.
