Low testosterone is not diagnosed by symptoms alone, or by a single blood result.
From the mid-30s onward, some men may begin to experience changes in energy, mood, body composition, sexual function, sleep, muscle mass and overall performance. These symptoms are not specific to testosterone deficiency and may also reflect metabolic dysfunction, poor sleep, chronic stress, medication effects, thyroid disease or other underlying conditions.
In regenerative and integrative medicine, the goal is to identify why testosterone may be low; not simply replace the hormone. A proper assessment may include repeat early-morning testosterone testing, SHBG and free testosterone when indicated, LH, FSH, prolactin, thyroid markers, metabolic health, sleep quality, medication review and fertility goals.
Treatment should always be individualized. Testosterone therapy is appropriate for selected patients with confirmed deficiency, but it is not the automatic solution for every man experiencing fatigue or reduced performance.
Seek a comprehensive medical assessment before self-diagnosing or starting hormone therapy.
