Does a darker lens mean better sun protection? 🕶️☀️ Think again!
One of the biggest eye care myths is that darker sunglasses provide higher UV protection. The truth might surprise you!
Here’s the difference:
Dark Tint: Only reduces brightness and glare. It makes things easier to look at, but tint alone does NOT block UV rays.
UV Protection: An invisible chemical coating or material filter that blocks harmful UVA and UVB rays (even completely clear lenses can have 100% UV protection!).
⚠️ The Hidden Danger: Wearing dark lenses without proper UV protection causes your pupils to dilate (open wider) in the shade. This actually allows more harmful UV radiation directly into your eyes than wearing no glasses at all!
Always choose 100% UV400 protected lenses to keep your eyes safe.
