This patient was presented at the hospital with a sudden swelling in the right inguinal area caused by a foreign body which was removed during an ultrasound-guided procedure in the standing sedated horse.
Due to the presence of a persistent fistulous tract, surgical exploration under general anesthesia was necessary to carefully dissect and remove all affected surrounding tissue.

Under general anesthesia, the left hind limb wound was thoroughly cleaned, flushed and debrided to remove necrotic tissue and fibrin.

The tendon sheath appeared intact, with its external layer visible. The wound was carefully closed in two layers using absorbable and non absorbable sutures. Regional limb perfusion was performed, followed by cast application to support healing and protect the surgical site.
