Raj Sarki, from Darjeeling wins bronze in 200m at World Transplant Games.
He underwent renal transplant in September 2022 under Dr DS Ray and his team at RTIICS, Narayana Health.
“Before leaving for Germany, Sarki met RTIICS nephrology head Deepak Shankar Ray, under whom the renal transplant was done. - ‘Sarki's win should encourage others who have undergone transplant surgery or are battling renal failure. This should also encourage organ donors, as this noble act can assure a normal lite to those who have undergone transplant.”

Raj Sarki, underwent renal transplantation in September of 2022 under Dr Deepak S Ray and his team at RTIICS, Narayana Health, Kolkata.
The 33-year-old champion from Darjeeling has won the Bronze Medal for the 200m sprint at the World Transplant Games, held in Germany August 2025, where 51 countries participated.
We celebrate Raj Sarki's indomitable spirit, to fight against all odds, and win globally.
It unlocks a universe of possibilities for people who have undergone renal transplantation and struggle with the idea of a normal life post procedure.

Terence and his mother. He is our first patient from Cameroon, they came to us 9 months ago for renal transplant. Terence was very sick, found to have advanced kidney failure with several other complications. He had a stormy post transplant recovery, often riddled with uncertainty. It took us 6 months to make him fit. Finally they’re on their way back to their home, happy & healthy. Due to their circumstances, they were helped financially by Narayana Health upon my intervention. These photographs have been sent by Terence’s mother.

Recently attended the annual conference of The Transplantation Society (the apex world society of organ transplantation) at Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our students presented four research papers. One of my students Dr. Sushree received the prestigious mentee award for which I was also given the mentor award from the president of TTS, Professor Marcello Cantarovich.
