Today we recognize World Autoimmune Day 💙

World Autoimmune Day is commemorated to raise global awareness about autoimmune diseases, promote education, encourage earlier recognition, and support research efforts aimed at improving patient care and quality of life.

Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues and organs. More than 100 autoimmune conditions have been described, affecting millions of people worldwide and often causing significant diagnostic delays.

⚠️ Warning signs that may suggest an autoimmune disease include:
• Persistent or unexplained fatigue
• Recurrent fevers or chronic inflammation
• Joint pain or swelling
• Skin rashes or photosensitivity
• Unexplained weight changes
• Chronic gastrointestinal symptoms
• Recurrent mouth ulcers
• Symptoms involving multiple organs or systems

At the Latin American Society for Immunodeficiencies (LASID), we recognize the importance of understanding immune dysregulation and strengthening awareness of immune-mediated diseases to promote earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.
