Is this Ayurvedic food?
What is Ayurvedic food?
Crumble recipe👇🏼
I love cooking but I don’t often post recipes because I don’t want to perpetuate the widely held idea that ‘THIS is Ayurvedic Food’. Eating an ‘ayurvedic diet’ means so much more than eating specific ingredients or even cooking and consuming them in a certain way. It means paying attention to your body, temperament, appetite, energy levels and digestion, observing how all these things might change according to the time of day, season, weather or life events and adjusting your diet accordingly in order to maintain healthy agni and to balance the doshas, which in turn will support a healthy body and mind.
I have, however, been slightly obsessed with this breakfast for the last month or two and have finally decided to share my recipe, which should of course be adjusted according to your tastes and needs. For me it yields 4 portions, for someone else it could well be 8 portions. Very generally put this breakfast is best suited to someone with strong jataragni, it soothes vatadosha and could aggravate kaphadosha. I like to use the juiciest fruit possible to avoid dryness and at the moment I’m loving pears and damsons.
One more thing: ideally, food should be freshly cooked. This is obviously impractical or impossible for a lot of people and I do keep this in the fridge and warm up a portion on the three mornings after I’ve cooked it.
