New EAN Guideline published! 📝

The European Academy of Neurology and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) have published a new guideline in the European Journal of Neurology on the diagnosis and management of infectious encephalitis in adults.

The guideline provides evidence-based recommendations to support clinicians in the diagnostic evaluation and management of adults with suspected infectious encephalitis, helping inform clinical decision-making and patient care.

Protecting brain health is an investment in Europe’s future. 🧠

On 1 October, the Brain Health Mission, the European Academy of Neurology and the Health and Environment Alliance hosted “The Regulatory Shield: Defending Europe’s Brain Health in a Volatile World” at the European Health Forum Gastein.

Bringing together scientific, political and patient perspectives, the session explored how Europe can pursue competitiveness and regulatory simplification while maintaining essential health and environmental safeguards. 🛡️

A conversation with MEPs András Kulja and Vytenis Andriukaitis was followed by an interactive town hall debate, with audience votes capturing shifts in views over the course of the discussion.

The session highlighted the importance of prevention and of considering long-term neurological consequences in today’s policy decisions.

A new chapter for brain health awareness begins in Romania! 🧠

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Brain Health Mission School Challenge: Romania, inviting students to explore why brain health matters, how to protect it and share their ideas through creative class projects.

Whether through art, video, writing or another creative format, the School Challenge gives young people a chance to learn, collaborate and inspire others to take care of their brains.

If you work with schools, teachers or students in Romania, help us spread the word and get your class involved!
