We’re happy to announce a new dedicated EAN Clinical Fellowship grant for EAN members from low-, lower-middle- and upper-middle-income countries.

From 2027 onwards, one 9-week fellowship grant will be supported by an endowed fellowship from Prof. Abhijit Chaudhuri, FEAN, and his family, honouring their parents Subrata and Sipra Chaudhuri. This initiative strengthens inclusivity and diversity in neurological care worldwide.

Applications will be reviewed through the annual process. Find eligibility criteria and application details on our website.

Applications for 2027 are open until 31 October 2026.

🚨 Medicine Supply Shortage Alert: Tegsedi® (inotersen)

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has announced that Tegsedi® (inotersen) will become unavailable in the EU from the end of 2026.

Tegsedi® is used to treat hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (hATTR) in adults with stage 1 or stage 2 nerve damage.

❗ The medicine will no longer be available in the EU from the end of 2026. Healthcare professionals should plan ahead and discuss appropriate alternative treatment options with affected patients. The shortage is due to the manufacturer's permanent discontinuation of Tegsedi for commercial reasons, including low uptake because of available alternatives.

💊 Patients taking Tegsedi should consult their healthcare professional, who can arrange a suitable alternative treatment if needed. If you have any questions, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Yesterday in Dublin, EAN Past President Elena Moro joined policymakers, researchers, clinicians and patient advocates from across Europe to discuss the future of neurological health at the Neurological Alliance of Ireland's World Brain Day event.

The discussions highlighted the need for a coordinated European approach to neurological health, focused on improving access to care, strengthening research and innovation, and reducing inequalities.

Echoing the Irish Presidency's motto, "Ní neart go cur le chéile", Prof. Moro highlighted that Europe is strongest when we work together and congratulated Irish colleagues for their leadership in advancing neurological health on the European agenda.
