We are a group of psychologists, who specialise in working with kids, teens and young adults. Do you know a child or teenager who might benefit from counselling? If so, go to www.developingminds.net.au/counselling to find out more about the psychological therapy and assessment we do, including information about who provides counselling, how much it costs, how it works, how we work with kids and families, where our offices are and how to make an appointment

I learnt a lot. I learnt that I can change the choices I have made. Year 12 Student, Unley High School

Do you want information and ideas about how to support or motivate a child or teen? If so, you might like to go to our our articles and ideas page at www.developingminds.net.au/articles. Here there are a range of free articles about caring for young people (eg helping teens with sleeping problems, ideas about sibling fights, knowing what to ask about facebook and many more). As well as these one page articles, we have more extensive resources for teens in senior school and their parents. If you want to purchase "The Years that Count" or another one of our products, visit the Products page. You can also sign up for our free e-newsletters which give regular advice about caring for young people. Everyone who signs up for the enewsletter automatically receives via email a free report on Six Ways to Help Students through Senior School. Kirrilie has a brilliant range of articles on her website which I often recommend to parents. Teachers: Do you want your students to know how to motivate themselves, manage stress and avoid social networking disasters? Or the parents at your school to learn about supporting and communicating with teens? If so, click here on seminars to find out about the training and education we conduct in schools and community organisations. We help teenagers with ideas about how to manage their time,
emotions, relationships, exam preparation and study life. We also help parents, health professionals, educators and youth workers know how to care for, work with and communicate with the next generation. Kirrilie has spoken to more than 30,000 people in audiences Australia-wide and her seminars and approach has been featured via the media (5AA, The Advertiser, Today Tonight, Channel Nine News, The Messenger, Madison Magazine and others). Kirrilie’s presentation was a stunning exemplar of good teaching practices. She was vibrant, lively and articulate, giving excellent practical advice to the students and she had a sense of humour! She kept her audience captivated for the entire hour. Year 12 Co-ordinator, Siena College

Are you a teen wanting some ideas, support or help? If so, click here for articles for teens for ideas on motivation, sleep, relationship break up or the pros and cons of facebook. Kirrilie provided me with an insight into how learning works. Student, Grant High School, Mt Gambier

The single greatest protective factor in a young person’s life isn’t a technique or a perfectly timed response. It’s relationship. And that’s something every one of us can build.
The Relationship Advantage is a night of practical, hopeful, doable strategies - how to strengthen connection, respond to big feelings with confidence, and help the young people in your life feel safe, capable and understood.
📅 Thursday 22nd October
🕡 6:30–8pm
📍 Adelaide - Unley Oval Community Hub
🎟️ $55pp / $90 for 2 - numbers limited.
Because when a child feels truly connected to the adults around them, they don’t just cope — they grow. They try harder things. They come back from hard days. They believe they’re capable, because someone believed it first.
That’s the advantage. And it starts with us.

Does it depend on the time of day or what you are doing? Has it changed over the years for you? The questions above are about s

Have you looked directly into someone’s eyes today when you spoke with them? Did it help you understand them? Or connect with them? Or did it make you feel uncomfortable? We know that many parents/caregivers with children/teens experiencing life challenges find caring for their young people overwhelming. They experience anxiety, grief, sadness, frustration, exhaustion and isolation. A number of our clinicians offer a short therapy program for these parents where they aim to support them, give them a safe place to hear their parenting related distress - and to help them find strategies to practice self-compassion, problem solve practical parenting issues and find strategies to cope with distress. 📱💻Telehealth options are available for those in remote areas or where time constraints are an issue. 🤳Call us on 83571711 or email us at [email protected] for more information.
