we've had mums walk through our door in tears. not sad tears. the kind that come when someone finally believes you (This is Dani's Daughter Sierra when she was a few months old, and Dani cried, cried and cried, watching her baby in agony).

weeks of a screaming baby. weeks of being told it's normal. weeks of being sent home with nothing.

some of the most common and most missed reasons a baby cries inconsolably:

cow's milk protein allergy — in breastfed babies this means dairy in mum's diet. in formula fed babies it means the formula itself.

tongue tie — affects feeding mechanics, causes painful wind and screaming after every feed. frequently missed at the newborn check.

ear infection — easily confused with general unsettledness, especially without a fever.
oversupply or fast letdown — baby gulps air with every feed and screams in pain afterwards.

your instinct that something isn't right is not anxiety. it is not first time mum nerves. it is information — and it deserves to be taken seriously.

at House of Mother we will sit with you, listen, and help connect you to the right person. whether that's lactation support, sleep support, chiropractic care, or someone else entirely.

you don't have to keep guessing alone.

your baby's head comes out. then goes back in.

This happens multiple times before they're actually born. You're pushing with everything you have.

Your baby's head appears. then disappears. you think something is wrong.
nothing is wrong.

This is called crowning — and it's one of the most shocking moments of birth for women who've never heard of it.

Your baby's head advances with every surge and retreats between them. This is normal. This is your body doing its job perfectly.

Crowning is when the head finally stays. That's when your baby is seconds away.

Knowing this one thing stops the panic. and panic is what makes birth harder.

If this is something you wish you'd known — send this to a pregnant friend.

Every midwife knows this. Almost nobody says it out loud.

The Australian hospital system is world class. I trust it. I work within it. I send every one of my clients into it.

But it was never designed to prepare your nervous system for labour.

79% of Australian women are now accessing antenatal care in the first trimester — up from 61% just a decade ago. (Magical Baby Moments) More appointments than ever. More scans. More check-ins.

And yet — women are still arriving in that birth room completely unprepared for what their mind and body are about to go through.

Fear changes labour. Tension changes labour. An unprepared nervous system changes labour.

That's the gap nobody talks about.
That's why I do what I do.

Comment MASTERCLASS and I'll send you my free masterclass— labouring naturally in the hospital, and what actually helps. 👇
