we've had mums walk through our door in tears. not sad tears. the kind that come when someone finally believes you (This is Dani's Daughter Sierra when she was a few months old, and Dani cried, cried and cried, watching her baby in agony).
weeks of a screaming baby. weeks of being told it's normal. weeks of being sent home with nothing.
some of the most common and most missed reasons a baby cries inconsolably:
cow's milk protein allergy — in breastfed babies this means dairy in mum's diet. in formula fed babies it means the formula itself.
tongue tie — affects feeding mechanics, causes painful wind and screaming after every feed. frequently missed at the newborn check.
ear infection — easily confused with general unsettledness, especially without a fever.
oversupply or fast letdown — baby gulps air with every feed and screams in pain afterwards.
your instinct that something isn't right is not anxiety. it is not first time mum nerves. it is information — and it deserves to be taken seriously.
at House of Mother we will sit with you, listen, and help connect you to the right person. whether that's lactation support, sleep support, chiropractic care, or someone else entirely.
you don't have to keep guessing alone.
