This is a story of immense perseverance. I first met this couple five years ago as a second opinion after many pregnancy losses, including multiple ectopic pregnancies. I diagnosed AntiPhospholipid Syndrome but after another ectopic and loss of the remaining tube, we moved to IVF. I had a second baby and on my return from maternity leave the couple was still determined to complete their family! Imagine everyone’s happiness and terror when they were finally pregnant - with TWINS!! Cue some preterm birth drama but thanks to the trust between Lauren and myself, some advocacy and RFDS, we made it to Ashford Hospital where I had the privilege of delivering these beauties and keeping them all together for the duration of their NICU stay. Thanks of course to Dr. Sanjay Sinhal, Dr Charlotte Paull for assisting me on the day and Mary Louise Hull for covering me on my leave. And the biggest thanks to Lauren - your fortitude and grace throughout this journey will stay with me forever.

Spencer is the second handsome fella I’ve delivered for this beautiful family and set to be the last thanks to the benefits of removing the tubes at the time of Caesarean. Did you know this reduces a woman’s lifetime risk of ovarian cancer?! Something to think about if your family feels complete and you end up birthing this way.

It is the anniversary of GLOW Specialists move into our new rooms, and whilst we are still (!) finishing off some bits and pieces, I couldn’t be more proud and thankful to work in such a calm, welcoming and beautiful space. Thanks in particular to my builder husband who wore so many hats these last years as well as to my co-founders and work wives Dr Kate Gowling and Dr Charlotte Paull 🥰
