Meet the team: Renjini Samuel - IVF Lab Manager/ Senior Embryologist

'Behind every IVF success story is a dedicated embryology team—and I am so proud to lead ours! 🧬✨'

Hi, I’m Renjini Samuel, the IVF Lab Manager and Senior Embryologist here at Family Fertility Centre.

For over 22 years, I’ve had the profound privilege of watching miracles grow under the microscope. My passion for reproductive science started because I wanted to bridge the gap between complex science and deeply personal human journeys. My background includes a Masters Degree in Human Genetics and my micro specializations include ICSI, cryopreservation and embryo biopsy.

I'm passionate about helping people, building meaningful connections, and creating positive experiences. Leading with empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to making a difference.

When you hand us your precious samples, I know it represents your biggest dreams. My goal is to ensure our lab operates at the highest standard of precision, technology, and care so that you have the best possible chance of building your family. 🧸💙
When I’m not in the lab nurturing embryos, you can find me creating my signature curries in the kitchen, having a cuppa with friends or exploring new places around Adelaide. ☕🌿

To anyone on a fertility journey right now: know that we are cheering you on, celebrating every milestone, and working tirelessly behind the scenes for you.

Have I left it too late?

It’s one of the most common questions we hear all the time.

The honest answer: there isn’t a single age or moment where hope disappears. But age does matter — and understanding your options early gives you more choice, more control, and more time to plan.

If this is something you’ve been wondering, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

A conversation with one of our fertility specialists can give you clarity on where you’re at, and what’s possible from here.

An embryologist is a highly trained scientist who works in the IVF laboratory, caring for eggs, s***m, and embryos during the earliest stages of development.

They:
• assess and prepare eggs and s***m
• support fertilisation (IVF or ICSI)
• monitor embryo development
• freeze and thaw embryos for transfer

From fertilisation to freezing, their work is precise, time-critical, and deeply skilled.

Small moments in the lab can make a big difference in your journey, and they’re watching every detail with care and precision.

Stress is often talked about as a cause of fertility challenges, but the reality is more complex.

Chronic stress can influence hormones, sleep, and overall wellbeing, but it is rarely the sole reason someone experiences difficulty conceiving.

Infertility is usually multifactorial, involving a combination of medical, hormonal, age-related, or unexplained factors.

What is important: stress can make the journey feel heavier. That’s why support, information, and care matter just as much as medical treatment.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help at any stage of the journey.

Fertility journeys often come with appointments, waiting periods, uncertainty and emotional highs and lows.

This World Meditation Day, we’re reminding our community that looking after your mental wellbeing matters too.

Meditation doesn’t have to mean sitting silently for an hour. Sometimes it’s simply taking a breath between appointments, going for a walk, listening to calming music, or allowing yourself a moment of stillness.

If you’re currently trying to conceive or undergoing treatment, we hope you can take a small moment for yourself today 🤍

Infertility affects around 1 in 6 couples in Australia. In approximately 40% of cases, infertility is linked to male factors such as s***m health, while another 40% are related to the female reproductive system. For many couples, infertility may involve a combination of both male and female factors.

Our team is here to support you in understanding the possible causes of infertility — whether genetic, hormonal, structural, lifestyle-related, or otherwise — and to guide you through the treatment options available, so you can make informed decisions with confidence and care.

At Family Fertility Centre, we know you are going through a life-changing process. As healthcare continues to evolve, providing safe, personalised care has never been more important.

That's why we use RI Witness electronic witnessing technology to support safety, and peace of mind throughout your IVF journey. The labels on each of your samples are fitted with a radio frequency tag, then at every work station during the process RI Witness remotely reads and logs each of these tags, allowing full traceability, accountability and safeguarding of your samples. If another patient's samples were to be brought into the same work area an alarm would sound and any procedure stops immediately. This way potential mistakes are avoided before they can occur.

Beyond mismatch prevention, RI Witness enhances quality control, workflow efficiency and reduces administration — allowing our team to focus more on giving you the best patient care.
