September is the World Health Organisation's Sexual Health and Reproductive Health month. This month is an opportunity to recognise the many different experiences of fertility and reproductive health.

From understanding your body and reproductive health to navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy planning or fertility treatment — everyone’s journey is different.

For those currently on a path to parenthood, we see the strength, hope and uncertainty that can come with the journey. And for anyone with questions about their sexual or reproductive health, knowledge, support and access to care matter. 🧡

Your fertility nurse does more than you might realise. 🤍

They coordinate, explain, check in, answer the questions you’re too nervous to ask, and help you navigate the many moving parts of treatment.

But sometimes, their most important role is simply being there, supporting you through the good days, the hard days, and everything in between.

Because fertility care is about more than treatment. It’s about care and compassion for the person going through it, too. 🤍

From your first conversation with us through each stage of treatment, you're supported by a team working together to provide personalised care.

Doctors. Nurses. Embryologists. Administration. Everyone has a role to play.

Because fertility care is never just about the treatment. It's about you. 🤍

Fertilisation is an important step, but it’s not the same thing as creating an embryo that continues to develop.

After an egg is fertilised, the embryo goes through a series of developmental stages over the following days.

Not every fertilised egg will continue developing — this can be one of the harder parts of fertility treatment.

Your fertility team can talk you through what your results mean for your individual cycle, including what happens next.

Understanding the process can make an uncertain journey feel a little less uncertain.

At Family Fertility Centre we believe that every step of your path to parenthood matters, and you deserve the best care and understanding. That's why we pride ourselves on offering excellent, supportive, one on one patient care, advanced technology to aid assisted reproductive outcomes with compassion, respect, open-mindedness, integrity and honesty.

Does IVF hurt?

IVF isn’t usually described as painful, but some parts of treatment can be uncomfortable.

💉 Injections: You may experience a stinging or bruising at the injection site.

🩺 Egg collection: This is performed under sedation or anaesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel the procedure itself. Some cramping or discomfort afterwards is common.

🌱 Embryo transfer: Usually a quick procedure, and most people describe it as similar to having a cervical screening test or mild period cramps.

Everyone experiences treatment differently, your fertility team will be there to help you understand what to expect and manage any discomfort along the way.
