This week, I had the privilege of delivering a guest lecture titled
“From Community to Clinical Leadership.” at Stanley College.

Standing in front of future community service professionals was a full-circle moment for me.

I arrived in Australia as a migrant refugee.
I restarted high school.
I studied in my second language.
I rebuilt my academic and professional foundations from the ground up.

Years later, I became a clinical leader, social worker, and Behaviour Support Practitioner.

During the lecture, we explored:

• Professional identity and resilience
• Burnout and professional protection
• Trauma-informed practice
• Ethical leadership in mental health
• The importance of supervision and governance

Representation matters. Structure matters. Community matters.

To the students — your journey may not be linear, but it is powerful. Build it with discipline, boundaries, and purpose.

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of practitioners.
