๐Ÿ Homemade Spaghetti Bolognese & Soccer Spirit at Kings Park! โšฝ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

What a wonderful afternoon at Kings Park!

Our Village Manager, Adriana, treated residents to a delicious homemade spaghetti bolognese, preparing the rich sauce from scratch the night before. โค๏ธ

Residents enjoyed a beautiful lunch together while watching the Australia vs Paraguay FIFA World Cup match, cheering on the Socceroos as they secured a 0โ€“0 draw and progressed to the next stage of the tournament. With Adrianaโ€™s two boys both playing for Metros, there was certainly plenty of football spirit in the room!

Itโ€™s days like these that remind us how special village life can be - good food, great company and shared moments that bring everyone together.

A huge thank you to Adriana for the love and care she puts into creating these memorable experiences for our residents. ๐Ÿ’š

โค๏ธ Resident Story | Bob & Margaret's Langton Park Journey

When Bob and Margaret moved into Langton Park in December 2007, they were beginning a new chapter after spending 42 years in their family home in Newton, where they raised their three children.

Like many families, they had spent years maintaining gardens, lawns, paving and a large home. As time passed and their children grew up and moved on, they began considering whether a retirement village might offer the lifestyle they were looking for.

After visiting a number of retirement communities, Langton Park quickly stood out.

"We loved the location and setting of the units, so close to our previous home and all services. The lovely village-type setting, gardens and trees was a big change from straight streets and rows of front doors."

The beautifully restored homestead, established gardens and welcoming atmosphere made a lasting impression. Just as importantly, they already knew several people who had moved into the village and spoke highly of the community and lifestyle.

Even before moving in, Bob and Margaret received a warm welcome, attending a village Christmas celebration and meeting many of the residents who would soon become friends and neighbours.

Reflecting on those early days, Bob remembers how quickly they felt at home.

"We were amazed how quickly we became accepted and involved with new activities."

Over the years, both Bob and Margaret became active members of the Langton Park community. Margaret, a former library manager, soon became involved in looking after the village library, while Bob embraced many of the sporting activities available, including table tennis, indoor bowls and annual golf tournaments.

One of the things Bob values most about Langton Park is the balance between community and independence.

"The village provides lovely living conditions, close neighbours and companionship, yet also provides necessary privacy with fenced back fences and gates."

He also fondly remembers the pride residents took in their village, volunteering their time on committees and helping to maintain the welcoming and vibrant community spirit that continues today.

After almost two decades at Langton Park, Bob and Margaret have created countless memories and friendships. While Margaret now resides in permanent care due to illness, Bob remains deeply appreciative of the years they shared together in the village.

"Margaret and I have loved our time with our fellow residents. I hope I have some more good times left to enjoy this lovely village."

Thank you, Bob, for sharing your story and allowing us to celebrate the journey that you and Margaret have shared at Langton Park. Your story is a wonderful reminder that a retirement village is more than a place to live โ€” it is a place to belong. โค๏ธ

What a wonderful afternoon at Sanctuary Villages as residents gathered to celebrate a very special milestone โ€” recognising those born in 1946 who have now proudly reached their 80th year.

Our โ€œOBEโ€ (Over Bloominโ€™ Eighties) recipients were presented with certificates in recognition of this remarkable achievement, surrounded by friends, laughter, stories, and plenty of community spirit.

๐Ÿ‘‚ Bringing Healthcare Closer to Home at Langton Park

At Sanctuary Villages, we are always looking for ways to enhance the wellbeing, independence and quality of life of our residents.

This week, residents at Langton Park had the opportunity to access complimentary hearing checks through the Hearing Australia mobile clinic, conveniently located within the village.

By bringing essential health services directly to our community, residents can access professional support in a familiar and convenient environmentโ€”helping them stay connected, confident and engaged in daily life.

A special thank you to Emily for coordinating the visit and to Ben for supporting the initiative and ensuring the day ran smoothly.

We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Helping residents access the support they deserve ๐Ÿค

This week, The Elms welcomed representatives from the office of Victorian Treasurer and Northern Victoria MP Jaclyn Symes, who visited the village to assist residents with applications for the Victorian Seniors Card Vehicle Registration Discount.

Bringing services directly into our community helps make important government programs more accessible, ensuring residents can receive the benefits and support available to them without unnecessary barriers.

We are grateful to Jaclynโ€™s team for taking the time to meet with residents, answer questions, and provide one-on-one assistance throughout the morning.

At Sanctuary Villages, we believe strong communities are built through connection, support, and access to the services that help people thrive.

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’› Staying Connected, Independent and Informed ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿš—

Residents at The Elms Retirement Village recently enjoyed an informative presentation from Driving Miss Daisy, learning more about the transport and support services available within the local community.

The session provided residents with valuable information about maintaining independence, staying connected to family, friends and community activities, and accessing support when needed.

It was wonderful to see residents actively engaging, asking questions and exploring options that can help them continue living life on their own terms.

A special thank you to Sandy from Driving Miss Daisy for taking the time to visit our community and share her knowledge with residents.

At Sanctuary Villages, we are committed to creating opportunities that support wellbeing, connection and independent living.

๐ŸŒฏ A Wonderful Afternoon at Kings Park ๐Ÿท

There is something truly special about sharing a meal together.

Today, our Kings Park residents gathered for a delicious homemade yiros lunch, lovingly prepared and personally served by our wonderful Village Manager, Adriana, with assistance from our Portfolio Coordinator, Emily.

With beautifully set tables, fresh yiros, golden chips, great conversation and a glass of wine specially selected by our Managing Director, Freddy Bartlett, the room was filled with laughter, friendship and community spirit.

At Sanctuary Villages, we believe the best moments are often the simplest ones-coming together, sharing stories and enjoying each otherโ€™s company.

We are incredibly grateful for our residents, who continually embrace the special events, activities and experiences our team creates across our villages. Their enthusiasm, warmth and willingness to participate are what make our communities so vibrant and welcoming.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make the afternoon so memorable. โค๏ธ

During COVID lockdowns, a group of ladies at Signature Gardens came together with one simple goal โ€” to stay connected during an isolating time.

Every morning, the cowbell would ring, chairs would come out into the driveway, coffees would be poured, and stories and laughter would be shared. โ˜•๏ธ

What began as a small daily ritual soon became something incredibly special ; a lasting friendship group built on kindness, support and genuine connection.

Years later, the โ€œCowbell Ladiesโ€ are still catching up, still laughing together, and still reminding us all what community living is truly about.

Their beautiful story was even featured on A Current Affair, where they shared how these friendships helped them through one of lifeโ€™s most challenging periods.

At Signature Gardens, residents often tell us that what they value most isnโ€™t just the homes or beautifully maintained surroundings-itโ€™s the people.

๐Ÿ’› Knowing neighbours look out for one another
๐Ÿ’› Feeling safe, supported and connected
๐Ÿ’› Building lifelong friendships
๐Ÿ’› Belonging to a true community

Because home is more than four walls โ€” itโ€™s the sense of belonging you feel within it.
