Due to the COVID situation in South Australia, we have moved our method of delivering health care from face to face consultations to that of virtual health care, provided by O'Brien Street practitioners via the options of either telephone or video consultation.
Video consultation will rely on the quality of your internet access and the ability to participate in a consultation by generally using the camera function of your mobile phone.
There may be an occasion where you will need face to face contact with your treating GP or Allied Health provider which will involve attending another location aligned with O’Brien Street Practice. This can be discussed in consultation with your GP and assessed in terms of clinical urgency and risk if a face to face consultation is required
For any pathology services ordered by your GP, we will forward your request form to a collection centre that is located close to where you reside.
Please check with the pathology centre when making a booking for any specific instructions; some centres are co-located within a private practice and may have restrictions of entry, especially if not vaccinated for COVID, be mindful that standard restrictions of entry relating to COVID screening will apply to SA Health Care settings.

YOUR HEALTH MATTERS TO US
With the current increase of COVID-19 transmission in South Australia changes have been introduced by SA Health regarding face to face consultations. O’Brien Street Practice are now offering Bulk Billed Telehealth or Video Call consultations for all patients who have a current Medicare Card, so now you don’t have to leave home. This is with the aim to keep both you as a patient and your healthcare providers free from risk of infection transmission.

A Telehealth or Video call appointment is just like a standard appointment with your GP or Health Professional, but it will be conducted over the phone. If you’re unwell or need to self-isolate, you can still attend a consultation virtually. Telehealth or Video Call consultations are not only convenient, but can also reduce the spread of illness. Your GP or Health Professional will go through the normal procedures of asking about your symptoms and assessing potential diagnoses. You can also get your prescriptions for medicine or discuss any general health concerns.

HOW TO BOOK A TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENT?
Call O’Brien Street Practice during standard opening hours and staff will book your appointment for you. If you have any concerns about this change to the way your healthcare is delivered please ring us to discuss with your GP on 8231 4026.

A reminder that surgical grade face-masks are mandatory onsite at O'Brien Street Practice- we can provide you with one upon arrival.
Once you have checked in with the QR code and sanitised your hands, a member of the reception team will give you a mask.

If you have a mask exemption, this needs to be viewed by your practitioner and does not automatically guarantee that they are comfortable seeing you face to face.
If so, you will still need to put on a surgical mask before entering the waiting room area and it will need to be worn until entering the consulting room. Exemption does not apply to the waiting room area, which is a mandatory mask wearing area per SA Health protocol and standards.

We need to maintain a safe environment for all of our clients in our waiting room at the current time.

Advance warning for Monday 15th November- there will be no access from Sturt Street into O'Brien Street due to a crane being used for major building renovations on the corner of Sturt-O'Brien.
There will be traffic control people assisting to suggest alternative access. Hopefully you can arrive a little earlier to coordinate your arrival time. Apologies but it's out of our hands. 🙂

Reminder- if you have cold or flu-like symptoms, you need to have a COVID test and cannot present to the practice for a medical appointment without clearance. Given the nature of our practice and the vulnerability of people with compromised immune systems, you need to care for others as well as yourselves. Thanks.😷🤧

Due to the mandatory wearing of surgical face masks whilst attending the practice, you will need to consume these either outside or in the lobby. Too many people are using drinking coffee etc. as an excuse to not wear the face mask.
Your face mask needs to remain on your face whilst you are in the waiting room, and ensuring that it covers your nose. Thanks for your assistance in making O'Brien Street a safe place for all who visit for medical care.😷

Due to several people ignoring the protocol of QR checking in, hand sanitising and putting on a surgical face mask last week, we are asking people to call us prior to approaching the building as we are now locking the door into the waiting room area. We will then advise if it is OK to proceed as we are only able to have 5 people in our waiting room due to social distancing. It's unfortunate that we have to police things in this way but we need to continue to be vigilant with health and safety for all parties.😷
