People are more likely to thrive when they don't feel the need to hide who they are.
Belonging isn't created through policies alone.

It's built through everyday actions.
Using someone's chosen name.
Respecting their identity.
Listening without making assumptions.
Protecting privacy.

Creating spaces where people feel safe to speak.
Responding respectfully when discrimination occurs.
These moments might seem small.

Together, they create environments where people feel valued, respected and included.
Whether you're a workplace, school, healthcare provider or community organisation, belonging starts with the choices we make every day.

What helps you feel genuinely welcomed and included?

At Arise Allied Health, we're committed to creating a respectful, person centred environment where every individual feels heard and valued.

Many people hear the words "behaviour assessment" and immediately think they're being judged.
That's one of the biggest misconceptions.

Myth:
A behaviour assessment is a test someone passes or fails.
Fact:
It's an opportunity to understand what someone needs to thrive.

A Positive Behaviour Support assessment looks at:
βœ” What happens before a behaviour.
βœ” What happens afterwards.
βœ” The person's strengths.
βœ” Their communication style.
βœ” Their environment.
βœ” Their daily routines.
βœ” Their goals.
βœ” What support strategies are already working.

The aim isn't to remove behaviour.
The aim is to understand why it happens and develop practical strategies that improve quality of life.
Every person deserves support that's built around their individual needs.

When we think about communication, we often think about talking.
But communication is much bigger than speech.

People communicate through:
β€’ Facial expressions.
β€’ Eye contact.
β€’ Gestures.
β€’ Body language.
β€’ Behaviour.
β€’ Writing.
β€’ Pictures.
β€’ Communication devices.
β€’ Changes in routine.
β€’ Silence.

When we only listen for words, we risk missing important messages.
Understanding communication means paying attention to patterns, preferences and the individual's unique way of expressing themselves.
The goal isn't to make everyone communicate the same way.
The goal is to understand each person's way of communicating.
Every voice deserves to be heard, whether spoken or not.

What's one thing you've learned about communication that changed your perspective?

We'd love to hear from you.

A child finds the courage to tell someone they're being bullied.
What happens next matters.
Some responses, even with good intentions, make children feel unheard.
Instead of saying...
❌ "Ignore it."
Try...
βœ… "That sounds really difficult. Tell me more."
❌ "Toughen up."
Try...
βœ… "You shouldn't have to deal with this alone."
❌ "Fight back."
Try...
βœ… "Let's work out the safest way to handle this together."
❌ "Are you sure?"
Try...
βœ… "I believe you."
❌ "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Try...
βœ… "Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me."
Children don't need perfect answers.
They need adults who help them feel safe enough to keep talking.
What response helped you feel heard when you were younger?
Your experience might help another parent today.
If your child needs additional emotional support, Arise Allied Health is here to help.

NDIS UPDATE: A small check today might save time on your next NDIS call.

The NDIA announced additional identity checks on 10 August 2026 to strengthen the protection of participant information against fraud and identity misuse.

What does this mean for you?

When you contact the NDIS, you might be asked to confirm a one-time code sent to the mobile number or email address recorded on your account.

The NDIA might also complete these checks when calling you if you ask them to update personal information. Additional security questions might apply in some circumstances.

A useful step to take now:

Check whether your mobile number and email address are current.

Participants and approved nominees should update their contact information through the NDIS participant portals. Providers should update their details through the myplace provider portal.

Keeping your details current should help make the identity-check process smoother when you next need to speak with the NDIS.

Please share this update with an NDIS participant, family member, nominee, support coordinator or provider who might find the reminder useful.

For allied health enquiries, including Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support, speak with Arise Allied Health on 0481 092 861.

A child refuses school.
A teenager slams the door.
Someone suddenly stops engaging.
The behaviour is easy to see.
The reason behind it often isn't.

Sometimes behaviour is a sign of:
β€’ Anxiety.
β€’ Fear.
β€’ Exhaustion.
β€’ Sensory overload.
β€’ Feeling misunderstood.
β€’ Difficulty coping with change.

Looking beyond behaviour doesn't mean ignoring boundaries.
It means responding with understanding before reacting with frustration.

When people feel safe, they're more likely to develop the skills they need to manage challenges.
What's one thing you've learned about looking beyond behaviour?

We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Many parents ask,
"Why won't my teenager talk to me anymore?"
Often, the answer isn't because they don't want support.

It's because they're worried about being judged, interrupted or told what to do.

Try this instead.
Listen before giving advice.
Stay curious instead of making assumptions.
Allow silence instead of filling every pause.
Validate their feelings before offering solutions.

Connection grows when young people feel heard.
Not when they feel questioned.
Parents, what's one thing that helped you build trust with your teenager?

Most people ask friends how they're doing.
Few ask themselves the same question.
Before the weekend begins, check in with yourself.

Rate each area from 1 to 5.
βœ“ My energy.
βœ“ My stress.
βœ“ My sleep.
βœ“ My sense of connection.
βœ“ My overall wellbeing.

There's no right or wrong score.
The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is awareness.

Because it's easier to care for your mental health when you notice how you're feeling before burnout arrives.
Which area needs the most attention this weekend?

Share one thing you're doing for yourself over the next two days.

If you're looking for support, Arise Allied Health is here to help.

Behaviour is often judged before it's understood.

What looks like "challenging behaviour" might be someone communicating something they can't easily express.

They could be experiencing:
β€’ Anxiety.
β€’ Sensory overload.
β€’ Pain or discomfort.
β€’ Confusion.
β€’ Frustration.
β€’ A need for predictability.
β€’ Difficulty communicating their needs.

Instead of asking,
"How do we stop this behaviour?"
Try asking,
"What is this behaviour telling us?"

That simple shift changes the conversation from control to understanding.

At Arise Allied Health, Positive Behaviour Support focuses on improving quality of life by understanding the person behind the behaviour.

What's one lesson you've learned about understanding behaviour instead of reacting to it?
