Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Brain Tumour Research in Action Update and Lab Tour 🩶
What an incredible morning of inspiring research progress, powerful collaboration and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the groundbreaking brain tumour research happening right here in Adelaide at the Centre for Cancer Biology.
Attendees heard from an outstanding line-up of South Australian researchers and clinicians working to improve outcomes for patients impacted by some of the most aggressive brain tumours.
From the latest CAR-T cell clinical trials at the RAH, to smarter next-generation immunotherapies, research into preventing glioblastoma recurrence, new treatment targets for childhood medulloblastoma, and the vital role of the SA Paediatric Brain Tumour Biobank supporting a multitude of local, national and international research collaborations, including a world-first paediatric brain tumour clinical trial — today’s presentations highlighted just how much important progress is happening because of research.
One particularly exciting announcement came from Prof Jordan Hansford, who shared that Adelaide is preparing to launch a new personalised vaccine clinical trial, PaedNeoVax, for children and adolescents with some of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain tumours, with the first patient expected to be enrolled in the coming weeks.
NRF Executive Officer Ginta Orchard also reminded attendees that support extends beyond research alone. If any patient or family is unsure where to turn for support or information, please reach out directly to the NRF and know we are here to help.
A huge thank you to our event sponsors who made today possible B. Braun, Servier, Adelaide University, Radiology SA and Cancer Centre - as well as our wonderful speakers, volunteers, and every patient, family member, donor, fundraiser and supporter who attended.
Today was a powerful reminder that progress only happens because of people like you. Every breakthrough, every new clinical trial and every step forward is made possible through the generosity of our community supporting vital brain tumour research.
