2 POWERFUL IMAGES | 1 RAW JOURNEY TO SELF-WORTH
This is T’s story. A reminder that aesthetic medicine is never just about appearance!
T) “I started getting injectables at 19. At the time, I felt like changing how I looked might help me feel better within myself. Looking back, I can see it was more about what I was carrying internally.”
T’s journey was shaped by early life experiences, limited support, and challenges with self-worth, contributing to body dysmorphia and comparison to unrealistic standards & influenced by social media. Evidence highlights that social media exposure, combined with early vulnerability, can significantly impact body image and self-perception, reinforcing cycles of comparison and dissatisfaction (Halliwell et al., 2021).
In clinical practice, this reinforces the importance of a trauma-informed, person-centred approach one that looks beyond the aesthetic concern and explores the WHY behind it.
1. Understanding the psychological drivers of presentation.
2. Recognising when appearance concerns reflect deeper distress.
3. Supporting decisions grounded in wellbeing not vulnerability.
4. Prioritising long-term mental, emotional, and physical health.
T) “I used to turn to filler whenever I felt unhappy… it became a comfort blanket.”
Through a therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and clinical integrity, T) chose to dissolve and reset, breaking her old patterns and developing healthier coping strategies.
T) “You’ve helped me see myself in a way I never have before… not just physically, but in how I feel about myself.”
T’s whole life trajectory has changed. She is now completing her second year Bachelors with a renewed sense of purpose, self-awareness, and direction.
I feel extremely fortunate to have been part of this journey with you T.
