💥 Support Work Looks Different Every Day! 💥

This week our support worker and client headed to Project Break in Adelaide for a session unlike any other, smashing plates, TVs, and all sorts of objects with hammers and tools! 🔨🖥️🍽️

No two sessions at TDT ever look the same. Some days it's play in the clinic, other days it's out in the community trying something brand new, and we love getting involved right alongside our clients! 🙌 Whether it's building confidence, having fun, or just letting off some steam, we're there for it all.

A huge shoutout to the amazing team at Project Break, they were so accommodating and made the whole experience even more enjoyable! 🙏 Our client had an absolute blast and left with the biggest smile. 😄

Ever wondered why TDT exists? 💚 Here's the real story. 🎥

Our founder Emily Healy started this journey not just as a practitioner, but as a mum and a teacher who refused to accept that struggling children just had to cope. 💛
She saw children in her classroom who she KNEW could do better. She had daughters at home who were deeply unhappy and struggling. And instead of accepting that as the answer, she spent 8 years studying to find a better way. 🧠✨
The result? One of her daughters — who had severe learning difficulties — achieved an ATAR of 85. 🎉
That's not luck. That's neurodevelopmental therapy. That's reflex integration. That's what happens when you treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.
At TDT we take a bottom-up approach — working with the central nervous system so that the brain can function the way it was always meant to. 💚

Our speech practitioner Fiona uses play-based, child-led sessions to connect with each child right where they're at. Instead of directing every moment, we follow the child's lead, letting their interests and ideas shape the session, and these buttons are perfect for that! 🌟

🌈 Our Clients Are Loving This New Addition! 🌈

We recently introduced this colourful stacking toy into our clinic room at TDT, and it's already become a firm favourite with our little clients! 😍🧡💛💚💙
While it looks simple, this bright stacker is doing some serious work in our therapy sessions, both speech and neurodevelopmental!
Here's how:

🗣️ Speech Therapy:
Stacking rings create natural opportunities for language — colours, sizes ("big," "small"), counting, and turn-taking. It's a great tool for building vocabulary and encouraging spontaneous communication, all through play!

🧠 Neurodevelopmental Therapy:
The toy supports hand-eye coordination, fine motor planning, and visual tracking, key building blocks for development. Stacking and balancing also encourage focus, patience, and problem-solving as children work out how the pieces fit together.
And because it's so open-ended, we can follow each child's lead, letting their interests guide the play while we weave therapy goals in naturally. That's child-led therapy in action! 🙌

This one gives us ALL the goosebumps. 🥹💚
So many of the young ones who come through our doors arrive with limited functional language, and watching what happens when we help wire up their nervous system and engage the right parts of the brain is nothing short of magical. ✨

We have a little boy who is about to start school, and he is now singing and forming small sentences. 🎶

For a child who previously had no functional language, this is HUGE. Not just for him, but for his ability to connect with his peers, participate in class, and truly experience school the way every child deserves to. 🏫💛
