The recommended caloric intake for adult females with physical activity rated moderate is 2200 per day!

When energy demand exceeds dietary energy intake, a negative energy balance may occur and may result in hypothalamic dysfunction and alterations in gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) pulsality, leading to menstrual abnormalities, particularly among physically active females who train at a high intensity frequently.

Anecdotally I see too many women eating 1200 calories daily or below! This has catastrophic impacts on libido and hormone health.

What and why?

Significant numbers of Lactobacilli, Bifidobacteria and E coli are normally present in the healthy gut.

Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, in particular, are essential for gut health because they contribute to;

1) the inhibition of gut pathogens and carcinogens.
2) the control of intestinal pH.
3) the reduction of cholesterol.
4) the synthesis of vitamins and disaccharidase enzymes.

Diet/nutrition, sleep, movement, and emotional well-being underpin the foundations of our health and are KEY in helping to create a solid platform in our busy-hectic-modern day lives. It is a whole-body approach which you can address even in its simplest form.

Naturopathic approaches to health often focus on improving these key area’s….

The most impactful changes (and some of the cheapest) I have made for my health are as follows:

- nature exposure at least once a day
- no caffeine after 11am
- consistent 10pm bedtime
- alcohol avoidance
- movement once per day
- morning sunlight exposure
- 5 serves of fresh veggies per day
- adequate hydration
- protein at breakfast time
- IR sauna use x2 per week
- REST

Mold Toxicity •

Mold illness is difficult to diagnose and conventional medicine doesn’t always acknowledge that mycotoxins produced by some species of mold can cause major health problems. There is limited human-based studies looking at the connection between human health and mycotoxins. There is also no standardised treatment protocol or drug to treat mold illness.

Eliminating mycotoxins from your body, once you have eliminated them from your environment is individualised. It typically involves optimising organs of elimination including bowels, liver, kidneys, skin/lymph and lungs. Depending on the mycotoxins present and your body’s ability to tolerate treatment binders such as chlorophyll are sometimes recommended.

I also recommend liver detox support like glutathione, NAC, milk thistle, minerals, vitamin C and the B vitamins. Sweating via exercise or a sauna is another great way to reduce mycotoxin levels in the body. It may also be beneficial to consider an air filter for your room.
