After attending a Fringe show, we thought we would go along.
On arriving at , we could easily find wheelchair ramp, easy access inside venue. Disabled toilet also available!
It was striking just how much noise was in the main bar/bistro area. With TAB, loud chatter, and kitchen din. Such a stark contrast to the ’Quiet Dinner’ area, set offside, and secluded. A small room, but already 2-3 tables present at 5:30pm! We were comfortably seated, and noted a ‘Break Out Room’ accessible to patrons. By the time we left, there would have been at least 6-7 tables! Some patrons visibly stimming, wearing headphones, some with hearing aids, and everyone mindful of one another. Sound levels almost non-existent, no music, or kitchen/staff noise. Staff kind, accommodating to patrons needs. Overall, a fantastic option for those dealing with autism, sensory overload, hearing difficulty, and impairment. I shall try to attend as many as these possible!
Th Arkaba ‘Quiet Dinners’ are run on the 1st Mon each month, in conjunction with Autism SA.
FOOD : FIVE STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent value for money, and quality ingredients. I had 3 natural oysters, and burrata, served with balsamic glaze, and cherry tomatoes. Burrata came with a bowl of fresh garlic/herb bread..
My support worker had half schnitzel, with chips/ salad. I ended up taking half the burrata home!
